Aircrafts Moving at Idle

Featured Replies

Well, if it happens THAT fast, then the throttles are definitely NOT at idle.Messing with the cfg file is definitely the wrong way.Can you report how fast e.g. the Epic is accelerating to e.g. 20kts and what's the RPM?

All I'm saying is that not everyone starts or ends their simming in cold and dark. Usually when someone starts their program, they are at the gate, the engines are running, and if you're not quick enouth, the damn plane will slam against the terminal or hit another aircraft parked near by.
But you only need to engage parking brakes before saving the flight. OR if its too late for you now, go through all the saved FLT files and set the parking brakes on in those. Seems common sense to put the parking brakes on when parking, surely? If you are merely positioning aircraft at gates using the Go To Airport menu, then it would only be your default flight, the one loaded initially, which would need the parking brakes set.BTW aircraft almost never have engines running at gates. The may start them during push back, or just after, but not at the gate.
What I meant about the FSUIPC is, can you control the amount of idle thrust for the aircraft, or is that something I just have to mess with in the aircraft configuration file?
You can't change engine power via FSUIPC. The aircraft CFG file might have it there, adjustable, but you'd be messing with things which would affect the flight parameters of the aircraft. Seems a poor solution to an easy problem to me.RegardsPete

  • 3 years later...

I have a similar issue but with only one aircraft, and only on start up.  I suspect this is somthing different though.  When I start up the aircraft the startup process goes well enough, but when running the engine runs up to full throttle for about 30 second before returning to Idle.  This causes the aircraft to surge forward  even wahen the breaks are full on. Is there anything I can do about this?

What is the 1 aircraft that does this?  If it's freeware, then list the file name and where you got

it or a link to it!

The aircraft is a freeware Tucano at: http://simviation.com/fsxprops23.htm near the bottom of the page.

Uh....didn't we go through this about a week ago with the Simshed Freeware Tucano?

I'll give this one a try also!

Same result as last time.  Started up with brakes off and let it sit, at idle, for

over 5 minutes.  No movement forward or engine surges.  What do you have

set as your default cold and dark flight?  What aircraft are you using?

We may have!! I still have no answer so I was spreading my net wider.  It is an odd thing, its the only aircraft that it happens to.  The series of events from cold and dark is this:

  • Parking brakes on
  • Switches on - OK
  • Throttle to minimum
  • Initiate start.
  • Prop starts turning engine starts.
  • Revs build to maximum and hols for 30 seconds (no throttle change)
  • Revs drop to Idle. (no throttle change)

It is when the revs start to build in the penultimate point, so the aircraft starts to push against the brakes.

The parking brakes (and manual brakes) are overcome and the aircraft charges forward until the revss drop to Idle.

I am wondering if the Prop pitch is set wrongly. I have had some success in setting the pitch to maximum and rapidly reducing it as the revs build.  It seems the default position for the pitch is max.

My default flight is set with the default Baron.  Parking brake on, Throttles to idle,

Mixture to full rich,No feather on the props, all lights off, avionics on.

After initial engine start, I get no revs build up.

Interesting that you get no revs buildup.

I may have solved it.  I re-calibrated my prop pitch and made sure it was set to nill before i started up.  I still get the revs build up and the aircraft dips against the parking brakes but stays put.

Thanks for your efforts Charliearon.
