More Saitek - SPAD Questions

Featured Replies

Hi guysI've just hooked up the Saitek Muli-Panel and Switch Panel. Most people here have said to remove the Saitek drivers and use SPAD.I've done this, but now see that SPAD appears to only support default aircraft, needing to make changes for payware addon aircraft. That's ALL I use really.I'm now more than a little confused  Is there a way of using these panels straight 'out of the box' for payware aircraft? Also, I don't see how it's possible to change the use of individual switches.Any help much appreciated

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

I use SPAD with the radio panel. Works with most primary (COM, NAV, ADF, XPDR) functions fine with the level d 767 and PMDG's 747 (FSX)

Just spent a bloomin fortune on Saitek stuff without, it seems, enough research.Seems I'm far from being the only one who bought the Pro-Flight panels, 'assuming' it would work with addon aircarft...I think it a VERY sly move from saitek not to make it clear in the product description that these are only for default aircraft. I can't believe I didn't realise it. On reading the same complaints over on their forums, the answer they give is that, nowhere does it state they're for addons :Shame On You: :Just Kidding: How many people wanting this kind of kit do they think use the FS default aircraft? It seems half stuff was pretty much a complete waste of money for me!I feel sick!

It's a popshot if your Saitek Gear will work as alot of addons plans use their own internal code for operations and steer clear of MSFS's defaults. I own Saitek/VRi/Goflight and none of them offer complete compatibility with every plane on the market. Using Spad and registered FSUIPC you can setup a profile for your favorite plan to at least get some functionality out of your gear. I had to do that for my PMDG 747. Most addons due use the default Radio functions. Not sure if this your first hardware purchase, but there is no product that offers 100 compatibility out of the box.

Thanks for that info. Apart from the usual, like yoke & pedals etc, it is indeed my first hardware purchase. I'm 'gobsmacked' these things are so 'hit & miss' considering the price. I can see that I'm at fault for 'assuming' they'd work for addons, but then I think so are the manufacturers for not obviously stating so. It's the sort of behavior I expect to see outside of the FS industry. A little naive? Perhaps. If you could show me in a 'for dummies' format how to setup profiles I'd be very grateful. It really is such a disappointment, as I have a large number of payware aircraft, including almost ALL the heavies.

I figured you were a heavy flyer. I only use the radio panels with my heavies as they usually always work. Saitek Gear is mainly GA friendly. I don't have a SPAD tutorial, but its really easy just click on the SPAD icon in the task window/Manage Profiles/Add new/Select your device/Choose your button/Click Setup/ then assign either a key stroke or FSUIPC VirtualButton or Offset. It's really simple. Some downfalls is you won't get the plane's output of indications (ie display). You might have to use your planes in-game keyboard assignement to assign keystrokes to functions that don't have a key-combo assigned. Depending on the plane sometimes key-combos are the easiest. If you own a registered verion of FSUIPC you can setup your device as a Joystick button and assign it via FSUIPC.

Thanks, and yes, I have a reg FSUIPC (wouldn't be without it). Some of that makes a little sense to me  I never was very good with the FSUIPC tech stuff. Think I'm gonna have to get my head around 'offsets' etc :blink:Guess it would also make sense for me to post in each addon aircraft support forum. See who's got what sorted.
