February 25, 201115 yr Hi,I've just started using radar contact and am really enjoying it so far. However, I have a few "beginner" questions. I've searched the forum and read the manual but can't find the answer.1) I just did a flight into KBOS flying the PMDG beechcraft 1900 (turboprop) and landed very close behind another plane. We both had landing clearance and no go around was issued to either of us. I was running AI smooth aswell at the time as I read this could be used alongside radar contact. Did I do something wrong or does radar contact not seperate AI planes and user planes?2) On the flight options in radar contact I specified a gate but there was already a plane in the assigned gate. No big issue as other gates were free but I wondered whether radar contact used the gate information I gave it in the options.3) Is there a way to use default ATC for ground handling/taxiing after I've landed?I do not mean for this post to be in any way critical. I am really impressed by the programme and it definitely seems to be money well spent. Any help to the above would be appreciated. Thanks,Kev
February 26, 201115 yr You can use AI Smooth now at version 1.20 along with RC. It works for FS9 and FSX and you'll find it in the FSX Utilities library here. It comes now with a manual. Be sure its ATC and voice options are disabled. AISmooth User Plane Response with RC is normally disabled but you can try to see if that improves your situation. To insure AI and your aircraft positions in relation to scenery are accurate be sure FSUIPC and makerwys.exe are current as noted in the following information:------------Get the base FSUIPC version from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmland then interim update from the modules link on this page:http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/From that download link page under the Additional Programs link get the latest makerwys.exeFSUIPC now self installs initially based on your registry entry for your FS path. Check that with this free utility:FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB) from http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryAfter getting FSUIPC installed and then makerwys.exe installed in your FS folder start RC and rebuild the scenery database. If you have both an FSX and FS9 installation two RC4 folders were created. Be sure you have two shortcuts for each RC version to its respective folder for each FS version. (VISTA and Win 7 users will want for each shortcut set its advanced properties to run as admin.) Rebuild from within each RC version the scenery database.----------------If you are using FSX and Ultimate Traffic 2 be sure the UT2 spawning option is set to at least 50 nm to allow sufficient look ahead time.If you problem continues then a log will be required. Please let us know if your situation continues.
February 26, 201115 yr Author Thanks for your help. I was using FSUIPC 3.98 not the 3.989 module update. I was using the latest AI smooth with "user plane" off. I am trying a flight now and will let you know if I have any more problems. Thanks,Kev
February 26, 201115 yr Author A similar thing happened on today's flight aswell. On approach and cleared to land at KBUF. Two planes cut infront of me and i was told to go around. I did not hear any radar contact instructions which indicated any spacing was happening. Any ideas? The gate I specified through the RC options was taken again. I ran the Scenery DB button on RC as you said (although I had done this before as per the manual). Thanks for any help!

At least you got a go around, which is correct. The gate I specified through the RC options was taken again. The current version of RC (RCV4) knows nothing about Gates. The Gate information generated by MakeRunways is for the future, in RC version 5.If you want to park at an occupied gate I can only suggest Zapping the aircraft occupying it when you get there. There's an assignable control provided by a user-registered FSUIPC to do just that.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. February 26, 201115 yr Author Thanks Pete. Do you know if you can hear RC trying to seperate planes? Thanks, kev
February 26, 201115 yr Commercial Member Thanks Pete. Do you know if you can hear RC trying to seperate planes?I don't think RC does that -- AISmooth does try, but you won't normally hear that. I think RC's efforts in keeping AI out of your way are limited to runway incursions on the ground. But I'm not 100% sure. I know a lot more was or is planned for version 5.RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. February 26, 201115 yr RC4 supposed to separate user AI only during the last few miles of final (after contacting tower) speeding up AI in front or slowing those in back. I don't know what intercept angle of AI is included in that protection. In RC Interact with AI must be enabled. The assignable gate in RC preflight is only for the spoken word of RC ATC ground control and has no effect on AI. If you wish to reserve a gate at a frequently used airport assign it using ADE9X, AFX, or - taking a chance with modern scenery design - AFCAD (for FS9 only) a radius smaller than allowed for AI to fit. Gate radius for most scenery does not affect scenery elements to my knowledge (except perhaps animated docking air bridges) and does not affect user aircraft.AI Smooth has user definable adjustments for path width and interecept angle for approach protection. Another option, User Plane Response, allows AI Smooth to adjust separation between the user aircraft and AI. In the earliest versions of AI Smooth if a user aircraft was holding or taxiing anywhere beside a runway, no AI were allowed to land. The current version 1.20 is FS9 and FSX compatible and is in the FSX Utility library here on AVSIM.I currently have a wider separation for test purposes but I'm attaching an image of my current setup for AI Smooth. Note that I do not have User Plane Response enabled as I let RC attempt to do that (for testing) and do not want to take the chance of any RC and AI control conflict of AI on final approach. You can try to use it if you wish.
February 26, 201115 yr Author Thanks. I saw that screenshot on another one of your posts and turned off user plane response. I think turning it back on might help solve my problem. Thanks for all your help pete and ronzie.Kev
