February 25, 201115 yr I don't know how or why, but FSX recently decided to rebuild my FSX.cfg. When this happened, I lost all of my graphics and display settings. I pretty much have things back the way they were and the way I want them. However, I have one nagging issue. I have a small diameter around my aircraft where the textures populate in high resolution, and then a short distance away they start getting blurry. I've attached the picture below. This is best seen where the taxi line has a sharp dividing point between focused and blurry. I recall having issues similar to this almost every time I need to set FSX up from scratch. Ultimately, I've just needed to find the correct setting that affects this, which always turns in to a trial and error effect. Well, this time, I don't seem to be finding the right one. So, can anyone help me with what display settings affect this? If I recall correctly, it may have even been an FSX.cfg edit. Thanks in advance. Eric Szczesniak
February 25, 201115 yr I had the same happen but only with FSDT sceneries and for distant textures... so it might not be the same thing.I'll check the following:1) Make sure you force Aniso to 16x2) do NOT use any video compatibility modes (eg. Vista) in the compatibility mode tab.
February 26, 201115 yr When I first installed on Win7, sharpness deteriorated rapidly - until I remembered the "mipbias=" line I had added to the displaydevice.x section in XP. That fixed what I was seeing when I added it to the new config file.Perhaps for you also?Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
February 26, 201115 yr Author Thank you both for your assistance. I had filtering set to "bilinear" and changed that to "anisotropic" in FSX with some definite improvement. I have not been using nHancer recently, but may have to work on that.Lloyd, I seem to recall I may have made a .cfg edit in the past for this and it sounds like the mipbias might be it. Do you have any suggestions of the range of numbers that should be set there? Eric Szczesniak
