Flying heavies on autopilot in FSX. When dialling in a new altitude, the rate of decent/ascent jumps automatically to 1800fpm.Is there a way to change this? Some the approaches I'm practicing are quite difficult and it's a pain having to keep readjusting this every time I change the altitude. Thanks

Good morning 'Dougal & Phil'I've only recently got brave enough to start opening and editing aircraft cfg files; but I notice that most of them have an autopilot section (this is for the default 747)[autopilot]autopilot_available = 1flight_director_available = 1default_vertical_speed = 1800.0autothrottle_available = 1autothrottle_arming_required = 1autothrottle_max_rpm = 99autothrottle_takeoff_ga = 1pitch_takeoff_ga = 8;max_pitch=10.0I'm assuming that altering the 1800.0 value to something different would accomplish what you're looking to do (although I also noticed that near the start of the cfg file - under [general] - there is an entry for 'editable=0' and I'm not sure if that would also have to be altered to 'editable=1' to enable any amendments to take effect. I suspect it wouldn't, as I've not to do that when making my own small amendments to cfg files).Hope this helps.Brian

Brian is right in what he says. The default_vertical_speed = 1800.0 line changes the vertical speed setting.

Best regards, Steffen
