ATI 4870 512MB to ATI HD 6870 1GB Worth it ?

Featured Replies

Good Day,Currently running a single ATI 4870 512MB card overclocked to max with CCC. Card is stable and has been doing a great job to this point. However just purchased FTX YMML Melbourne V2 and it is the only addon that has brought the 4870 to its knees. I am wondering if replacing it with an ATI HD 6870 1GB would improve the texture loading and minimize the “Blurries” I am seeing at YMML. The problem is basically with the taxiways and ground textures, even with many settings backed off in the YMML control panel. If I stop the aircraft and set for awhile eventually the textures pop clear. I do not have this problem with any of my other Orbx FTX Hi Def airports. YMML may just be a little more than my current system can handle.Would like to Stay with a midrange card if I can get away with it for now. Have purchased all top of the line cards in the past and a little tired of trying to keep up with the high priced technology.FPS is not a real problem as I get very satisfactory performance in all other Orbx areas, MegaScenery, and Flight Simulator X in general. Was planning on staying with ATI as the last 3 video cards I have purchased have been ATI and they have performed very well for me.Any suggestions appreciated. JayDub
