November 18, 200322 yr I have had some strange reactions with the throttle under my MS Sidewinder Prec 2.After installing the FS Flight Sim Yoke I can see the same thing when calibrating under Windows. The throttle value seems to change in steps rather than continously if you examine the graphical representation of the axis values. But when displaying raw data I could change the value by one (out of 255). In FSUIPC where valuesis displayed as 16 bits integers the value changes around zero to 64 then 192 but no finer steps (I think the steps was greater with MS SW Pre 2 but I'm not sure. But FS throttle was not working correct with the MS stick). Is this normal or is there anything wrong with my computer? I have tried to unplug replug and recalibrate and remove other USB devices and this has no effect. Also sometimes the startvalue seems to be corrupt, for example max value even if the axis is set at zero. But if I move the axis the corrupted value disappears.Another thing now the RPM does not go up to around 2500 as before at full power. Why? Because of the new prop pitch and mixture axis on the yoke?
November 18, 200322 yr Don't know about the corruption, but the answer to the first problem is: Yes, that's normal.Reason: most yoke's and joysticks still work with analogue potmeters, but if they are connected to USB, the resistance value is "sampled" to a discrete number. The resolution (= number of values over the whole axis range) depends on the quality of the sampling.256 steps (like you seem to have) is rather good.Compare with: most gameport-USB convertors (to connect a gameport stick/yoke to a USB port) only have 32 steps.Hence the average step value in FSUIPC is 128.(2 * 16384 / 256)About the RPM:In menu Options-Controls-Sensitivities, check the the Sensitivity for the Prop and Mix axis are set to Max. November 18, 200322 yr Unfortunately it's not only theese normal step chamges. Now I can see the throttle value changing from -16300 to-95 at sporadic intervals, and also I could see the mixturelever making sudden jumps. So I do have some problem to makethe leveraxis on the Flightsim Yoke working normally.
