March 24, 201115 yr Commercial Member I've built a scenery with ADE and all is well except that the exclusion box will not work for whatever reason on the original airport taxi signs. Now I don't know how to disable the default version of the airport so that the signs will not appear in inappropriate places such as the middle of a taxiway.I was also wondering if anyone knows something better to design scenery than the ancient EOD or Object Maker the payware one. March 24, 201115 yr If you started you airport from a stock airport then you do not need to add any sort of exclusion rectangle for signs or buildings. As you have found it may not work. If you want to get rid of them then just select and delete them in the ADE display. ADE creates the necessary exclusions in the background to remove stock signs which is why you can just delete the ones you don't want in the project display. Also if you want to move a sign or building then just drag it to its new location. If you are talking about 3D object design then I think Google Sketchup is popular Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com

I assumed that if I created a file from knew it would override the original default file. My present airport has no taxi signs the default has them, but I don't know how to get ride of them. If I open the stock airport it's in one massive BGL which has many default sceneries I assume so I can not just compile it to the same file correct? If I did so this would overwrite the file without any other airports. This is all FS9 btw.I've tried drawing big exclusion rectangles where the taxi-signs appear to rid them, but that hasn't worked. What I assume I would have to do is open the default airport delete what I don't want to appear from it - basically the whole thing. Although this will be difficult to select everything one by one and delete. And thence save it as another name in Addon Scenery/Scenery correct? Perhaps the airport ICAO.Google Sketchup works for creating scenery objects in flight simulator? Good Day, Engjell Berisha
March 24, 201115 yr To be honest if you are working on an airport that already exists in FS then it is best to start with a stock airport. You have found out why I think. We would only start from scratch if the airport does not exist already as a stock airport. The reason that you are seeing signs is that they are coming from the stock file. The way to deal with these is not to make any changes to the stock file itself and certainly do not over write it in any way.Excluding taxi signs in FS9 can be very tricky. Large exclusions do not always work and if exclusions overlap then they can cancel each other out.In ADE I would suggest the following. Load your start from scratch airport into ADE. Now go to the tools menu and Import Stock Data. I would suggest importing everything that is on offer. Now you will see the stock signs and buildings as they are located in the stock file. Select any that are in the wrong place and move them to the right place by dragging them. Select any that you just want rid of and Delete them. Make sure that you do not have any copies of your current airport bgl file about (move them some place else on your hard drive). Now compile your airport (Be user that FS is not running when you compile) and then see if the revised airport works for you.ModelConvertX will convert Sketchup objects for use in Sim I think. March 24, 201115 yr Moderator I'd also highly suggest investing a couple of hours reading the really fine manual available, as there is a TON of neat stuff you can do......if you make the time to learn about it. :( Fr. Scenery design is quite rewarding. :( Good Day, Engjell Berisha
