Mag lens

Recommended Posts

Hello to All,We are a group multiplyer simmers, most of us over 60 years old, looking for a better way to see the gauges on a cockpit. So, we are looking for a freeware, that will enlarge the view , enough to read the gauge numbers, just with a mouse swipe. We have located some "magnifying" softwares, that worked only on the desktop, no applications. Nothing fancy, just something attahed to a hot-key, will do the job.Any helpful ideas ?Thanks !!!Bob.

I'm a few years shy of 60 but I feel your pain. I usually make "magnify" windows in my panel.cfgs for some of the gauges I can't read. That's panel specific though, there's an article at flightsim.com that may interest you on using the Windows magnifier for a more global solution:http://www.flightsim.com/main/howto/magnify.htmJim

Jim That is tantalising . "I usually make "magnify" windows in my panel.cfgs for some of the gauges I can't read"How do you do that? Is it difficult?I know I have had some panels that allow you to click on some gauges to enlarge them. Very useful if you are beginning to suffer from 'Old codgers eyes'Andy

Well it's a little involved, you just need to declare a new window in the [Window Titles] section of your panel.cfg, then scroll down and actually add the new window. The magnify window is no different than the GPS or Radio Stack window (different values obviously), you just place an enlarged copy of the gauge on it is all. Then, unless I can script it right into the gauge, I usually make transparent XML window toggle gauges and place them overtop of the existing gauge so when I click on it, it opens the magnify window. Similarly, clicking the gauge on the magnify window closes it again with another copy of the toggle gauge on the window itself. Making an XML gauge that opens the window is a matter of matching up the ident=[arbitrary number between 10,000 & 19,999] lines between the panel.cfg and the gauge script, i.e. '<Click>13001052 (>K:PANEL_ID_TOGGLE)</Click>' in the gauge script would open a window 'ident=13001052' in the panel.cfg.Google "add window panel.cfg" and you'll probably find 20 tutorials. Have fun,Jim

Since my original posting in my quest to a Mouse lens to facilitate my simmer group ,(over 60), I came across of a Javascript,( see attahment) that is apparently the ideal answer. While I know little or nothing of Java, I'd appreciate any help to put this package together, and make it usable for anyone in the Sim world.[ Enough to be called before or after FS9 loading , with a possible toggling F12 ]If possible, notify me by e-mail RLBANCE@AOL.COM of any comments. Thanks to All
