How to add gauge opening icon to VC panel?

Featured Replies

Hi one and all ...hoping somebody could put me on the straight and narrow with the following: I recently installed Holger Maas's Airport Chart Utility gauge (apchart.zip) to my copy of FSX.Anybody else who has it will I'm sure agree what a useful tool it is and a good substitute for the 'purple/pink line that shows the route to the runway" and the couple of payware options out there. The default activation of the gauge is via the views menu and is a little cumbersome and not terribly realistic. My question is would it be possible to activate it via an icon inserted in the VC panel ofwhatever aircraft, and how would one do this? David 'Opa' Marshall has in circulation a little package (pan_icon.zip) which does just what I'm afterbut only with 2D panels. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated ... Alan D Kerr

The most you can do in any VC is to add an invisible gauge on some static part of an existing gauge in most cases, such as the upper left screwhead of a PFD, or airspeed gauge, etc.

Can't you just use a popup 2D panel, even in the VC?

Could you elaborate? How would you go about doing that?
