Popping/clicking sounds

Featured Replies

This has been discussed many times before but I´m still unable to find a concrete solution...I´m having sound pops all over the place on lots of different aircraft. They come in randomly, on some flights the sound is crystal clear, but on some other times the pops appear. But when they come, it´s in specific time intervals, like a loop. An interesting fact is that the pops can be heard just from the left channel of the stereo spectrum, normally the right channel is clear. If anyone has any suggestions, it will be much appreciatedMarcelo Torres

Hi Marcelo. It may help us if you can tell us what OS /Sound board combo you have, but one thing that helped was to adjust the Sound Acceleration / Quality. Do a Search on "Sound" here, and see if you find something, if not, post here again. TV

Don't overlook codecs as a possible source of problems. Some work better than others in different games.

ive been having similar things happen. My sounds are in the cockpit but only on left or right views very distorted and what makes it more difficult its very random but!! never on the ground only flying sometimes at 10,000 ft others 25000 or even down to 6-7000 ft Have changrd sound settingsetc updated sound cards any help will be appreciatedCharles.

For all of you that are having problems with your sound. I will mention, for those that are not already aware, that you should find your DXdiag tool (Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic Tool), usually located here; C:\WINDOWS\system32 for WinXP. (I don't know about W7 for sure.) Open the tool and click on the sound tab at the top. Make sure that "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" is set to Basic acceleration. If memory serves me correctly this was recommended because FS9 does not cope well with higher settings. That could be the source of the popping and other distortions.I hope the above helps solve your issues or at least remove one possible cause.Best regards to all,Mel
