April 17, 201115 yr Is there a list somewhere of scenery objects - such as "3a84e3e077120a4e9d778d81bea436ae". How would I identify what an object is (jetway/ramplight etc.) from its 'code' name? Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 17, 201115 yr Yes, Martin, for a list of default objects, please consult the FS 2004 SDK documents.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
April 17, 201115 yr Author .. LibraryObjects.xls I was searching for a Word document, no wonder I didn't find it!Is that the file you meant? It's about 8 years old now and the identifiers I want to look for are not there. Or maybe the objects are in Rwy12 or similar. For instance, in the xml file I get when I decompile a 'mystery' bgl, one of the names that is repeated over and over is this:3a84e3e077120a4e9d778d81bea436aeAny idea how I would identify that (as an example) - as I say, it might be a Runway12 object or from similar 3rd. party library (EZ etc.), but I don't know for sure, and I can't locate any index of Rwy12/EZ etc. file objects. Do such things exist? Thanks Luis,M Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
April 17, 201115 yr Hello Martin,You can try loading the bgl in Arno's wonderful ModelConverterX, available on his web site. Not only will it tell you what the object is, but you will also see a visual representation of it.Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!

Do such things exist? Thanks Luis,MMy application Library Object Manager allows the classification of objects. As I recall there are a lot of thumbnails produced (Bryan Wallis springs to mind) that can be used with LOM and hence identify the objects. LOM can read RWY12 and EZ-scenery data files. A lot of libraries issued for RWY12 EZ-Scenery and so on will have the data file that identifies the object. In some cases the user will give the object a name in this file. The downside is that you need to load libraries. I do have a database that contains a lot of FS9 objects. Unfortunately that GUID does not come up.Finally as Luis says, you can extract the mdl file and load it into ModelConvertX and take a look at it. Another way, of course, is to place it in FS and look at it. LOM has a simple tool that lets you place a whole library of objects in line across the FS landscape so that you can identify them that way.FS9 objects do not contain embedded descriptive names. FSX models do. However they still rely on the developer giving them a good name. I have lost count of the number of "Gmax object" or FSDS object" names that I have come across - not so helpful Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
April 19, 201115 yr Author I have LOM installed already - will have a look at that. Also ModelConverterX.In this case I had dozens of light poles all in the wrong place - searched manually until I found the right name (4123ccfee2e758eecfe69c3feb3bd356 in this case) and then deleted all the paragraphs. Problem solved - but a bit trial and error. Will post back if I can't get ModelConverterX or LOM to do what I want - the ability to "place a whole library of objects in line across the FS landscape" will be really useful..Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
