April 29, 201115 yr Good day everyone,I have run into a problem recently and have had absolutely no luck in solving it. I recently purchased a new monitor and after plugging it in, ran into trouble in FS9. Graphic detail was terrible, frame rates in the single digits, etc. I soon discovered that, under the "Hardware" tab in Settings, that my graphics card was no longer listed next to "Device Name". Also, a number of options had either disappeared or were no longer clickable, such as Hardware Rendering Options, Cloud Detail, Terrain Detail and Water Effects. I have tried everything I can possibly think of to remedy this situation, such as installing new drivers, rebuilding FS9 config, etc and nothing has worked. The really odd thing is that my FSX installation is still working fine, the trouble is entirely limited to FS9. If anyone can offer a possible solution I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance,DennisIf necessary, my specs are:Windows Vista 64AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.00 Ghz4 Gigs RamATI Radeon 4890 HD 1Gig Video Card

I'm trying to figure out what the "Hardware" Tab in settings you are talking about. I don't recall that in FS9. Is your video card properly identified in the FS9.cfg? If so, it is properly installed and you only need to troubleshoot why graphics are terrible. FPS issues could mean you have your sliders turned up too high. You can check this by deleting the fs9.cfg and letting it rebuild and your settings should be at the default. Your FPS should be much higher w/o touching the configuration settings and flying. Is the video card properly identified in the Device Manager? Since you have rebuilt the fs9.cfg and that did not fix your problem, then I suggest trying a repair by inserting your FS2004 disk and selecting the repair option. Perhaps your textures were somehow corrupted. Any addons you installed will not have to be reinstalled but you will have to make changes all over again in the FS9 configuration.Best regards,Jim

April 30, 201115 yr Hello,I have pretty much the same set-up as yours, and my FS9 runs extremely well with the mentioned add-ons. I have maxed all sliders, except for Mips = 4 or 5. I have limited FPS to 29. Only in heavy clouds, some clouds seems to studder over the screen, but the sim itself seems not to studder. It appears as if something went wrong during installation of FS9. Secondly, have you installed Catalyst 11.4?Best Regards,Anders
