Autogen on my strip

Featured Replies

There's a neat little airport in WI, 9WN2 - it's on a golf course IRL, but in FSX there's trees all over it. Do I need lumberjack for this? If so, can I apply lumberjack file to ONLY this airport?9wn2.jpg

I just opened it in ADEX on my computer and there is no ground poly or exclude around the airport.Just load the stock airport into ADEX and add a small grass ground poly around the runway or place an exclude box around the border of the runway and that should take care of it.BTW, did you ever get your DFW PAPI to work right? I responded to your thread a while ago with a suggestion but haven't seen a reply from you.

Hmmm I'll try that. I guess I should have mentioned I'm using UTX with GEX textures... maybe UTX landclass is causing the issue.RE DFW - yeah it sorted itself I guess. I loaded FSX that day again to fly and it displayed normally.... Maybe it was a LOD issue.

That shouldn't make any difference if you are using GEX, UTX, or any landclass files. The fact is, when you open the airport in ADE there is no exclusion box or ground poly to keep autogen off the runway or the surrounding. The reasiest thing to do is just draw and exclusion box over the runway or any part of the strip that you dont want autogen and that will take care of it. Just compile it when your done and drop the file into your addon scenery/scenery folder. The whole process should take no more than 3 minutes to fix.

Good to hear that it sorted itself out.

Ryan,I just had a look at your airport again in ADE and it looks like it would be easier to draw a Terrain Polygon, then use Type-Airport Background and Tag Exclude Autogen.Using the exclude option, even if you check the "All" box, I am not 100% certain that it will exclude autogen, plus you need to draw it from the top righ to botton right and I cant figure out how to rotate it to line up with your airport.i thing the Terrain Poly would probably be the best and easiest option.

Yeah that's the issue I came across with the exclude - just a big box.I better read the help I have issues drawing the polygon, like it's not joining together.

It's kind of tricky, but easy once you figure it out.Just put your cross hair where you want to start, then click once, then move to the next corner click again, then drag to the next corner and click, then drag to the last corner and this time double click. Try drawing a few fake ones around the airport to get the hang of it. After you get the idea of what I am saying, you will be able to draw them easily. You will probably need to go up to the top left corner and select the pointer arrow again after you finish drawing it.
