Take off run

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I fly the Tinmouse now since some days more regulary but yesterday I had something never seen. I made a take off at KSEA with the plane fully filled with fuel and PAX. Flaps were at 5 and EPR at 2.04 as predicted by the system. The plane needed approximately 9000 of the 11000ft to accelerate to the Vr of arround 140 KIAS. Is this normal for that plane?Btw. you guys did an fantastic job with this plane. The best freeware plane ever made. Thanks for that.

Best regards, Steffen

Thanks for the nice compliment. What was your gross weight at takeoff? And what was the temp? If you had full pax and fuel, you were likely over the max rated gross takeoff weight, and high temps or high pressure altitude compounds the problem.

The temp and the weather was default setup and yes, I was 3 lbs above max takeoff weight.

At max TOGW, I'd do a 15-flap standing takeoff (takeoff power set prior to brake release) to get that takeoff run down a bit. I forgot to ask which engines you're using...9000 ft fully-loaded with a pair of -9s doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

Thanks for this tip with the 15-flap. The version was the Delta version, so I think it had been the JT8D-17R.

if runway is not a problem, use flap 1. lower drag = higher acceleration rate.
