Xtreme Prototypes Learjet

Does anybody have this? If so, how is it, and would you be kind enough to post some shots of the VC, I can't seem to find any pics of the VC after their SP2 which supposedly made the textures better.http://20series.xtremeprototypes.com/en/20series_addon.aspThanks

I have the pre version 2, so I need to go get the newer one I suppose. At any rate, it's a great flying series of Lears and replicates very well the real aircraft for each series. Sounds are great and the VC is not shabby at all...even pre version 2. The screenshots of the VC in the link you provided represent the VC accurately. All buttons and switches work. I don't know if I could produce any better screenshots. The VC textures are actually pretty darn good! Needless to say, I have no complaints at all about this aircraft.Beware, this series of aircraft isn't known for it's endurance, so plan VERY carefully the distance of flight and fuel. Some users of this aircraft do not like the flight characteristics while in the approach and landing phases. It's known for its "squirliness" while low and slow. I believe some people have tweaked the aircraft .cfg or air file to make it behave better for them. I prefer to leave it as is and fly by the numbers. it is not a "jump in and fly" type of sim aircraft either. Believe me, you won't be disappointed if you buy it.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this, I just went through the manual and I'm willing to bet that this will be one of the only aircraft I fly. And I wonder how much better the VC textures are, considering I've only seen the Pre-SP2 version (they should probably update their screenshots to reflect their latest version). Also, $24.00 US, not too bad for everything that you get. Thanks, and download that patch!

As soon as I can get to my home pc, I'll see how much better the VC textures are. I really don't know what they have done to improve on regarding those textures, but like I said, they are darn good now.By the way, I only use this aircraft with FS Passengers X. I have to use the Lear 45 payload model already included in the program. At any rate, I have made only one successful A to B flight of 485 nm in 5 attempts. The first 4 I had various emergencies....bird strike to left engine, high old pressure left engine, bird strike right engine and fuel leak right main tank. When one of those engines flames out, be ready for a fun approach and landing :( It's not been profitable at all to have this aircraft in my FsP company but it sure is fun!

Okay, screenshots of the SP2 version (i.e. the latest patch), which is in fact not so much a patch as a completely new installation exe file, which is about 160Mb in size. These pics are all from the same Model 25. The most obvious change is to the external model, which has been 'rivetised' and dirtied up a bit. It definitely needed that since originally it was gleamingly white to the point of being featureless, although I personally think they might have gone a bit over the top with it now. Still, it's better than it was. Inside, the VC is not hugely different as far as texturing goes (i.e. it still has that slightly 'cartoony' look in places, which some people don't like, although I don't mind it), so it is an improvement. There are some other systems tweaks and note the spooky woman passenger at night:9-6.jpg1-22.jpg2-22.jpg3-19.jpg4-14.jpg5-14.jpg6-10.jpg7-8.jpg8-5.jpgLike the real 20 Series Lear Jets, the Extreme Prototypes ones are of somewhat dubious utility owing to the limited fuel capacity and cargo space, but it s undoubtedly fun and quite a faithful reproduction of the real thing in terms of systems and performance (i.e. it can bite you in the &@($* if you don't fly it properly). You'll do a lot better on Air Hauler or FS Passengers with the bigger default FSX Lear, since that one has better range and capacity and is very forgiving, but you won't have half as much fun as you do with the Extreme Prototypes one. Definitely one of the better aircraft you can get for FSX, and it has a great manual too.My only real gripe is that the sound is a bit of a let down in my opinion. The old 20 Series Lear Jets were much noisier than this one would lead you to believe, but I guess you could fix that easily enough with some turbojet sounds.Al

Thanks Alan, I actually should have mentioned I bought it, and saved you the trouble of posting the pics, but they're good shots for those that don't own her yet. I'm extremely happy with my purchase, I think that the VC could use a new Attitude Indicator, it does look quite fake, and one other improvement I can think of at the moment is a TCAS. I would implement the freeware one from here, but I don't know how to add it to a VC, especially when the VC is part of the model and difficult to add to. Other than that, she is great and a pleasure to handfly.

Yeah, I'm not keen on the artificial horizon in the VC, but to be honest, the thing gets such blisteringly smooth frame rates in FSX, that I'm loathe to swap it out for anything else.Al
