  1. Excluding all particle effects doesn't work in my case. I have tried that before to no avail..... If using a 4 engine jet, frame rates will suffer greatly. 2 engine jets not much of a problem.
  2. Keven, for some odd reason the effects are creating horrible performance mostly with 4 engine aircraft....contrails to be precise. I uninstalled and re-installed the effects and still have the performance issues. I suppose I won't use contrails when flying 4 engine aircraft. 2 engine aircraft contrails don't hit the performance nearly as much. Steve's Fixer doesn't help the 4 engine contrails one bit.
  3. Thanks for the quick response, Keven. I was aware that 1.2 was mainly for P3D and that is why I was taken aback by the sudden performance impact on FSX. I will uninstall the software this evening and re-install it. I will let you know the results.
  4. Hi, I have been using this software since it was first released and have had no issues with performance while using Steve's DX10 fixer. However, after updating the software to 1.2 via the PrecipitFX interface, I have noticed significant performance impact. I keep FSX locked at 35 and see a drop to 18 FPS once the effects take place in the sim.....on the ground and in air. If I use a 4 engine aircraft and the contrails develop, frame rates stay at a horrible 18 FPS with no deviation from 18 FPS. Yes, I did run Steve's scenery fixer after the update. Deselecting the PrecipitFX effects brought the sim back to solid 35 FPS in all regimes of flight. Should I uninstall PrecipitFX and start all over? Thanks, Joe
  5. Hi all, I am in the process of trying to figure out why there is no vsync after installing Fixer 2.0. I recently purchased the previous version and did not have the vsync issue. like the previous version, I let FSX rebuild a new .cfg prior to applying the fixer. I did not change video drivers and changed nothing in Nvidia Inspector. I did try, however, to re-apply the FSX.exe to the FSX profile in NI and "re-do" the 1/2 refresh rate with standard tearing control. No joy. AA does look great and have zero issues with anything else....only vsync has been blocked. Is there something within the Fixer program that may interfere with NI vsync?? The horizontal tearing is not too great but is annoying enough for me to scrap DX10 if I can't find a reasonable solution. As stated in the subject title, using one monitor...and 780GTX. Thanks for any suggestions you folks can provide EDIT: Thank you for the reply, PJ! Omitting the DisablePreload was exactly the problem. Thought I had it in the .cfg in the first place. Vsync is now working perfectly!

    CTD on exit

I've had this happen several times already....only when I used ESC to exit a flight. I tried the menu way of ending flights and don't get a CTD now.
  7. Just click on the COMM button and it will extinguish the message.
  8. I did get to fly the T7 sim for 2 hours back in February of this year (along with 3 other co-workers of mine). We did all takeoffs/touch-n-gos/full-stop landings and ILS approaches at VHHH...google map overlays for visuals were awesome. The only system on the airplane that we used to control anything was the autothrottles. Yes, the airplane was very easy to hand fly and land. One person landed so hard that it shut down the visuals in the sim. Mx had to come and reset the simulator  . The only time I had to manipulate the rudder was during takeoff/landing roll. That's it. Had to work the trim quite a bit though during all phases of flight. Most of the approaches I flew were at 135 Vref + 5 knots (140) and made 3 nice landings. Also, the T7 handled a 20 knot crosswind like a boss ^_^ The PMDG T7 does replicate the actual airplane quite well, so I commend PMDG for a job well done!
  9. ENB was never stable on my system in FSX....no mattter which ENB I used. Eventually it would crash the sim if I changed from full screen to windowed mode and back. And, if I tried ending a FsPX flight, most of the time ENB would cause another crash. I can use ENB with FS9 without issues.
  10. I'm gald to see you got this VA up and running. Looks like it's catching on quite well. Congrats, Nick
  11. I flew my companiy's T7 simulator for 2 hours in February this year and can attest that I had to work the trim quite a bit throughout all phases of flight. The only part of the airplane that I did not have to manipulate much at all was the rudder...only for takeoff roll and landing roll-out. The T7 definitely needs a healthy exercise of the trim.
  12. I just installed the T7 and noticed it has the same active mouse pointer problem (in VC mode) as the 737. Otherwise, I'm seeing 28 FPS on average. Active mouse pointer drops them down to 20 and 24...worse than the 737. Outside view is a solid 30.
  13. Interesting to see this. I installed the airplane today. Opened the Ops center and it says I need to update the Ops center. I tried but a message says there is a problem...try again. I did but get the same message. No need for me to try and download any liveries if the Ops center can't update itself
  14. Yeah, it is bad autopilot logic built into this airplane. Even disabling the fly by wire system still causes the "vertical dance" but not nearly as bad.
  15. I have to say, I finally used the BP=0 and gave the water a bump up from 2X mid to high and now have much smoother performance all of the way around. Having used reject threshold or whatever was used instead of BP=0, I always thought my system ran FSX pretty well until I changed it to BP=0 yesterday. Hardly a micro stutter in any flight parameter with any addon airplane now....even with heavy cloud draws....using 2048 sky textures. This particular tweak was certainly right for my pc.
  16. Today was my first use of AS2012 and found 2 glaring issues:1) After initializing AS2012, the home screen that gives users vital information regarding updates, etc, does not have a "home" or "back" button. After reading about the latest FSUIPC note on the home page, I clicked on the forum link to download the latest FSUIPC module. However, I was not able to clear the Pete Dowson forum page within AS2012. I had to close the program and re-start in order to see the AS2012 home page. Am I missing something here or was the "home" button availability overlooked?2) With FSX running, the Wx Report does not lock to the nearest station or airport when checked. It always refers back to the airport I departed from...KLBB. Yes, I imported a flight plan from FS Commander...KLBB-PAKT. Even so, when checking AS2012 half way to PAKT, the Wx Report section remained on KLBB. It always worked with ASE . Again, did I miss something or is this a growing pain for AS2012?Thanks for your input!
  17. That's good to know, but can you point me in the direction of what can be done regarding SimConnect? What are you referring to with regards to "SC"? Not familiar with that term.
  18. Ok, I tried DWC with the Quality Wings 757 and had no flickering issues as before in the Standard mode. However. It did cause major autopilot problems and very erratic speed and altitude fluctuations even with wind smoothing set up in FSUIPC.. So, the only option I have is the middle selection within the settings. It worked like a charm. It's really a shame that I only have one option now but I guess that's the way it is. Joe
  19. Yes, sir...I did use Standard but today I switched over to DWC with a default aircraft. No flickering at all but I have not tried the 757 yet with DWC. I will have to do this later today. Joe
  20. Jim, I can attest that flickering does happen while using Quality Wings 757 and viewing from the VC mode and looking up. It does happen while viewing externally and looking upward. Frame rates take a hit while this is going on. After a minute or 2 it stops. Maybe this is occurring during a wx update. I ran several default aircraft without ASE running and did not have the issue occur. I am now using FSX on Win 7 64. This is a new pc with ASE and REX. QW 757 is the only addon aircraft I have installed at the moment. Will try the 757 w/out ASE running. Joe
  21. As soon as I can get to my home pc, I'll see how much better the VC textures are. I really don't know what they have done to improve on regarding those textures, but like I said, they are darn good now.By the way, I only use this aircraft with FS Passengers X. I have to use the Lear 45 payload model already included in the program. At any rate, I have made only one successful A to B flight of 485 nm in 5 attempts. The first 4 I had various emergencies....bird strike to left engine, high old pressure left engine, bird strike right engine and fuel leak right main tank. When one of those engines flames out, be ready for a fun approach and landing :( It's not been profitable at all to have this aircraft in my FsP company but it sure is fun!
  22. Yes sir...that's about right. The turbine Duke can do this all day long. The documentation, if I remember correctly, stated that the usual climb is 150 at around 2700 FPM.I've had this airplane loaded to 95% capacity and rocket upwards to 2,800 FPM while doing 150 knots....this is the sim of course and using FS Passengers X.
  23. I have the pre version 2, so I need to go get the newer one I suppose. At any rate, it's a great flying series of Lears and replicates very well the real aircraft for each series. Sounds are great and the VC is not shabby at all...even pre version 2. The screenshots of the VC in the link you provided represent the VC accurately. All buttons and switches work. I don't know if I could produce any better screenshots. The VC textures are actually pretty darn good! Needless to say, I have no complaints at all about this aircraft.Beware, this series of aircraft isn't known for it's endurance, so plan VERY carefully the distance of flight and fuel. Some users of this aircraft do not like the flight characteristics while in the approach and landing phases. It's known for its "squirliness" while low and slow. I believe some people have tweaked the aircraft .cfg or air file to make it behave better for them. I prefer to leave it as is and fly by the numbers. it is not a "jump in and fly" type of sim aircraft either. Believe me, you won't be disappointed if you buy it.
  24. I know this thread is a few months old but couldn't help noticing the advice about how the C208 should be landed. The aircraft tends to sink when flaps are retracted, not when extended. Moreover, the characteristic of the C208 on landing is quite typical of many aircraft....when power is reduced, more aft trim is required to relieve "mushiness" on the yoke. Plus, thebig prop on this airplane acts as a great speed brake when power is reduced considerably. Unfortunately the Carenado version does not replicate this. The real airplane is quite easy to land actually. I've never had it "nose dive" on me when I reduce power on landing...a bit of aft trim smooths things out quite nicely. If the airplane in the sim nose dives on you, likely it's a CG issue or a trim issue, possibly both.
