May 30, 201115 yr All I am using fsx accel sp22I had trouble with my traffic in fsxI now have no traffic at all. Can I simply reinstall accel over my fsx installation without fsx being removedIs that possible? Everything else seems to be working perfectly but my fsx traffic is gone. Will this bring my traffic backNote, I did try renaming the fsx.cfg file and i thought that upon re-creation of the .cfg file my traffic would come back but it did not.Thoughts Peter All I am using fsx accel sp22I had trouble with my traffic in fsxI now have no traffic at all. May 30, 201115 yr ...Can I simply reinstall accel over my fsx installation without fsx being removedYou're supposed to install Accel over FSX.Cheers,- jahman.
May 30, 201115 yr Author Yes I understand that, what i wanted to know is if i can just repair my installation using the disk.Thank youPeter
May 30, 201115 yr Help us, so that we can help you.Have you installed any add-ons? Any scenery files or other traffic files? Something that adds just one FS9 format traffic file will suppress all FSX traffic. So that add on for Africa that was made for FS9 and included a traffic file now is causing no traffic to show in Canada, Asia, etc.So what have you done with your FSX installation?
May 30, 201115 yr Author That is a fair questionGiven that I have had so many addons ( and removed many of them )it probably is just a waste of time to bother anyone hereNow that you point out that any fs9 add on with a traffic file could corrupt my fsx traffic I will have to go looking deep into the installtionJust one question,Does a fs9 traffic file have a different file extension than a fsx traffic fileMaybe I can find it that way.Thank youPeter

On the file menu it has a conversion utility which can be set to search your system for any FS2004 format Traffic files and quickly convert them to FSX format. You can get the latest version of AIFP here:http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/
May 31, 201115 yr Does a fs9 traffic file have a different file extension than a fsx traffic fileMaybe I can find it that way.No unfortunately, they all end in BGL. Ideally a traffic file would include TRAFFIC in it's name, but that's not always the case.David (Opa) recommended a good program to check for rogue files. If that doesn't work for you let me know, as there is another utility that will scan for traffic files. But it may not be as user friendly as AIFP.
May 31, 201115 yr To expand just a bit on what Meshman stated..........While most Traffic files do include the word Traffic in their names, it is not required.FS does not care what the name might be as it looks at a header inside the file to determine what type of bgl it is - a scenery related bgl, an "afcad" type bgl, a traffic bgl and so on. As a test a few months ago I renamed a traffic bgl as The_Kitchen_Sink.bgl - FS had no problem using it as a Traffic file.I have done the same sort of test with "afcads" also - again FS finds and uses them properly regardless of how they might be named.Hope that is not too confusing. :(
May 31, 201115 yr Now that you point out that any fs9 add on with a traffic file could corrupt my fsx traffic I will have to go looking deep into the installtionAn FS9 traffic file in FSX doesn't corrupt anything. It DOES keep FSX traffic from spawning in your traffic area(I forget just what that area is)when you start FSX. However, if you are at that airport long enough, default traffic from outside your traffic area will arrive normally.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
