flight plan

Featured Replies

hello folks im wondering if i can load a flightplan into radar contact from simroutes.i have already loaded a flight plan into my level d from simroutes , im wanting to do load the same flightplan into radar contact .level d flight plan is a rte file , i need a pln file.thanks..........Robert

Hi Robert,Fs Build 2.1 is capable of converting plans into both .rte and .pln format. You could try giving that a shot to convert the plan into your required format.Cheers,

I looked at Simroutes and basic searched for a known plan which it found. Among the download formats is FS9 .pln format which can be used with RC even within FSX. So download twice, once in each format - RC and then FMC.It correctly expanded the SID and STAR used into individual waypoints. A suggestion is that if the Level D can import the entire plan do so so that the SID and STAR waypoints plus the enroute waypoints are in sync between the FMC LEGS and RC4. In this case avoid using the FMC SID-STAR database but still load the arrival runway into it (after assigned by RC) for situational awareness if taking vectors. The advantage of using the payware FSBuild is that there is a not well publicized feature that lets you export from a modified waypoint grid. This comes in handy when a SID or STAR is runway dependent but has common waypoints for all runways. You would drop runway specific waypoints within 30 miles of departure for a SID for RC and 40 nm from destination and using RC options tell it you'll navigate that range on your own. You could then use the terminal procedure database in your FMC if the rest of the waypoints match. That's another subject. There are other features of interest in FSB such as connecting to a couple of weather applications for current or archived winds aloft to aid in fuel planning within FSBuild. The Active Sky applications are supported.FSBuild 2.4 (pending final release but beta is available) now uses Navigraph data with the 1013 cycle included with the software. Therefore at no additional cost if you have a Navigraph subscription you can update FSBuild and your Level D keeping your FMC and planner data in sync.If you go that route I have a tip sheet to post here about FSB and similar planners.

Like Ron said, I use FSBv2.4 on all my flights. FSB in my case exports 3 formats for me FS9 pln, FSX pln and rte for my LDS 767. In addition I can also copy and paste a simroute flight plan into FSB and get perfect plans. To make life a lot easier highly recommend usisng FSBuild.Bob

thanks for the reply , would like to get fsbuild but i cannot network it over to another com like flight sim commander and Aivlasoft flight bag .and Aivlasoft is a must for me .just got back into simming after moving to another home .anyway i got it set up like you said through simrouths.Radar contact set up just fine but now im wondering why it will not call out my flight levels , when it does it goes blank , it will say that im breaking my altitude but wont give me one to go with.or it may say that you may go to flight level and just before he says somthing he says nothing.what am i missing....thanks...........Robert

I am not sure why altitudes in feet or flight level are not being spoken by RC. Try a flight with just FS and RC without those other add-ons running. If RC states you are busting your altitude it should also state "Your assigned altitude is . . .".Be sure your FSUIPC is updated including any interim versions (as well as makerwys.exe for airport data interpretation) from the links at the forum top to resolve some performance issues especially in Win 7 32/64 and also some issues when using Active Sky ASE.If you still have a problem run a log and send it in as per that topic at the forum head to pinpoint the problem. After the speech failure occurs you can alt-tab to RC and press the Quit button to save the log. Send it in with a copy of your FSX or FS9 .pln format plus a description of your problem. Be sure jdtllc.com is allowed through your ISP and pc spam filter. If the log shows you are missing files you can do a reinstall. RC4 build 3845 is current but 3853 should work also.As far as OK operation but reaching an altitude or flight level and getting a warning read the section on transition altitudes about altitudes commanded in feet and those commanded as flight levels and how to set your altimeter for each condition. Do not depend on the 'B' key to set the altimeter as it does not recognize transition altitudes other than the 18,000 feet TA used in FAA areas. Globally, the TA's can vary by location as reflected in the Controller pafe of RC for each airport.Start another thread here with these specific problems.
