Autopilot Issue

Recommended Posts

I'm having a problem with the 744X's autopilot. I loaded the default Cessna and then loaded the 744X that was loaded (PAX and cargo) by the PMDG loader. I went threw the manual's checklist and took off. At 400 feet I activated the autopilot with LNAV and VNAV armed. Here's where I have the problem. The aircraft will go to an extreme nose-up attitude and stalls. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any hardware (joystick, yoke, etc) that has a trim axis assigned?

I'm assuming you have the autothrottle engaged? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but sometimes we're all guilty of missing a step. When I first started with the 744 I thought I was following the procedures till someone explained to me why it said "TCAS Off" every time I used the 744.

I think that solved the problem. I was able to fly out of Heathrow and it was normal.

As one of my teachers always said, there is no such thing as a dumb question. I always forgot to set the A/T when I started with both the MD-11/744. Though what is the tie between the A/T and TCAS?

None, that was just an example of how I sometimes miss things when I think I followed all the steps
