July 1, 201114 yr Hi all,it's a bit time since i was very active in the forum, but i'm a bit occupied at this time. :( I'm reading now the printed manuals of the MD11 for the second time, amazing piece of manuals, and i love to. Today, while coming into the reading of the Flight Control chapter, a question bright in my head.Firstly,i want to state that i'm NOT complaining anything or anybody and my question is only for curiosity. It's a thing that's always caught my attention.The PMDG MD-11 is one of the best, if not the best, simulation out there. But some systems, for FS limitations or PMDG choices aren't simulated. Which are those systems or features exactly?I listed those: WX radar, TERR radar, WAGS (Windshear alert and guidance system), ACARS. July 1, 201114 yr Wx radar can't be accurately replicated in FS.By TERR, I assume you mean EGPWS? I agree it would be nice, but it's a HUGE resource hog, and most of the time, if you're doing a good job, you won't even remember it's there.I'd love ACARS for flightplan information as well. Right now, we can import flight plans, which is an ACARS feature. However, no FS developer seems to be willing or able to allow ACARS to fetch weather data from activesky :(Paul
July 1, 201114 yr Paolo, that's about all really. A few maintenance-related submodes accessed via the MCDU as well. If you do a search in these forums for Weather Radar you'll see it's a contentious issue. The problem is basically related to the lack of data that can be extracted from the FSX weather engine. The same issue is why WAGS isn't simulatd: If FSX can't adequately show the elements of moisture and wind shifts, there's little point in PMDG creating systems to detect it.Also, note that terrain depiction is not done by radar but by reference to an elevation database. Look for it in a certain 737 add-on coming soon. :( Mark Adeane - NZWN

July 1, 201114 yr Author Thank you, i yet know the reasons that drives PMDG to leave those systems out of the sim and i agree at all. As i said, it was not a complain. It was only a question born from the curiosity when i realized that in the manuals those systems are left out. July 2, 201114 yr Fly online :(I do, but i'd like to be able to get it via the MCDU. It would also be nice if we could uplink wind data for longer flights.
