Need updated Fs2004 "panels.dll

Featured Replies

The other day I purchased (for FS2004) a "add-on GPS" from Reality. It was the Reality XP GNS 530W XP. I'm getting an "error message" that I have a bad "panels.dll" file. I do have FS2004 update 1 also installed. My installed panels.dll version is: 900.030612.02The message says I need version: 9.1.0.40901.I don't understand as I already have the latest version or update to FS2004 installed?Where can I find the other "required" version? Thanks jerrycwo4

`Just out of interest I looked in my own FS9 modules folder ,and I do have the 9.1.0.40901.panels dll, so it does exist. I wonder whether perhaps something you installed has overwritten your version with an older copy.(guesswork on my behalf) Its rather interesting that you have this issue as I have had a few problems with the G2D.DLL AND 3 DLL(at least they were mentioned in those cryptic error messages you get when FS crashes0 so I checked on those and noticed they were 9. versions not the 9.1 (Update) versions, so as I have another installation of FS9 on an old drive I picked the 9.1 versions from that copies modules folder and installed them in my current FS9. Whether that solved the problem or not I am not sure, but I have had no problems since.(got try all things were the dreaded ctd is concerned. If you don't have a backup of FS9 I am sure I or somebody could send you the correct panel dll version (if thats legal of course ,I don't want to be shot at dawn by the men from MSoft)cheers Andy

You can reinstall the update downloaded from here:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=9727Before running it in your FS9 folder there should be a folder called BACKUP which was created with your first install of the 9.1 update. If it exists take that folder and move it out of your FS9 folder preferably in a separate folder you create on your hard drive. otherwise the update will not work. It contains (with the first run) your preupdate files. If that folder does not exist then the 9.1 update was not installed. If the update.exe asks about an overwrite allow it. If on VISTA or Win 7 right click on that update and select run as admin (different than logging in as admin). You might have to also run it in XP compatibility mode under Win 7, not sure. That should restore all of those .dll files to the 9.1 update. In addition if on VISTA or Win 7 be sure to right click on any wrapper and installer .exe files and run as admin. If you use any of the Reality configuration utilities in those shortcuts to them be sure to set those properties to run as admin. Here's the product information page:http://www.reality-xp.com/flightsim/gns530/systemreqs/index.html
