July 3, 201114 yr Hi,I run FSX with RC in a networked config. Everything worked super until...I tried to fly from DTMB (Monastir, Tunesia, Africa) to EHAM. I have the Monastir X scenery (Aerosoft) installed. The flightplan was created with FSX and loaded into RC. When I check the controller info, I see that the departure column contains no info at all.. All freq. are zero and there are no runways. Since Unicom is also at 0 Mhz, it might be that the whole airport is not active in RC. I tried what follows both ways, as it came up and with the frequencies that I know for tower and app filled in. When I hit the Start RC button with my 737 parked at P10 at DTMB it starts to get weird . The RC window in FSX opens but I am at Lat N 0.00' Lon 0.00'alt 12.3. Given all the water around me, that's not the place I was a few seconds ago.I made a rerun of makerwys and installed it but the outcome is the same. When I restart FSX at DTMB, open the default fsx atc window with a flightplan installed, I see the active frequency and that one is correct. Also the ILS, VOR/DME and ADF freqs work.So I think that somewhere in the generation process of the rc4 file, it goes terribly wrong.I hope you can help me out on this.Dirk Ladies and Gentlemen..., Captain(or 'Kappie' in Dutch slang
July 3, 201114 yr Moderator Hi Dirk,It sounds like you have done the right things - run makerwys - but for some reason the airport isn't correctly identified. You don't say what version of FSUIPC and MakeRwys you are using. I suggest you visit Pete's pages here, download and install the latest versions and try things again. Ray (Cheshire, England). I suggest you visit Pete's pages here, download and install the latest versions and try things again.Hi Ray,I'm on FSUIPC 4.664 and I see that there is a 4.70 now. The makrwys.exe came with the pack a few months ago and is dated 22 July 2007. I run that on the FSX PC (no FSUIPC involved yet) and when I check inside the generated r4.csv and r5.csv files I see that DTMB is not present. So I think the 'harm' is done by makerwys.exe.SOLVED!!!!I deselected the add-on scenery in FSX. Made a new makerwys run; checked the generated files that now include DTMB; I did a rebuild from RC; loaded the flightplan and all freqs are there. I select the scenery again; fired up FSX and RC and all works fine now.I'll have to keep that in mind when I install new scenery airport.Thanks.Dirk Ladies and Gentlemen..., Captain(or 'Kappie' in Dutch slang
July 3, 201114 yr Moderator Hi Dirk,I'm peased you got the problem sorted but it sounds like it only worked after uninstalling the DTMB software and then running MakeRwys. It's hard to believe commercial software would not include all the airport details required by MakeRwys. As everything is working okay you probably won't want to run MakeRwys again with DTMB installed but you should really if only to confirm MakeRwys is correctly identifying this 3rd party airport. You didn't say which version of MakeRwys you used but you should always use the latest version as Pete doesn't support old versions. July 3, 201114 yr You should be running MakeRunways 4.46 available from here:http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/and makerwys.exe should be placed in your FS folder replacing the version from the package.Be sure you are running it from within RC's Scenery Rebuild and you have put the correct path in for FS. Mine is:h:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator 9If you are running both FSX and FS9 you should have two folders for RC such as RC4 and RC4X. When you update the scenery database be sure for the RC version in the folder you started you are using the correct path for the version of FS. For the RC4X version your FS path would be to FSX. Also be sure for each version you have put in the correct path to the flt./wxr folder in your Document folder. For FS9 that folder is Flight Simulator Files and for FSX is Flight Simulator X Files. Also be sure to use the correct folder when you first browse to enter a plan. If in a network situation where RC is on a different PC than FS then you first run makerwys.exe directly in your FS folder and then run the Scenery Rebuild from within RC.A properly designed scenery should work OK with makerwys. After installing the new makerwys and running the Scenery Rebuild with the add-on airport DTMB installed (be sure you restart FS any time a scenery is installed or reactivated so it performs a scenery reindex followed by closing it) it should work OK. Aerosoft published sceneries are usually OK.If you still have problems with Aerosoft's DTMB activated we can find out what is incorrect. Go to the RC4X\data folder. Backup in another folder r4.csv, a4.csv, and f4.csv. Back in RC4X\data right click on r4.csv and open it in Wordpad. Do not use Excel or other spreadsheet folder. Search for DTMB. Copy the number of lines for that airport and paste them in a reply here. Do the same for the line for a4.csv pasting it in that reply. Also in that reply from a flight plan you created departing DTMB open it in Wordpad and paste in the lines from the beginning through the first checkpoint after DTMB. What I'm doing is checking out if the plan coordinates matches the scenery location coordinates. Finally, tell us the frequencies you want permanently for DTMB. Paste in from f4.csv the line for DTMB and we'll attempt to modify it for you as a permanent fix. f4.csv is a fixed database not updated from scenery and is based on 2003 data and probably needs to be updated. Do you have a link to a real world chart series for DTMB? If not send the frequencies from the Aerosoft furnished charts. In your FSX folder there is an f5.csv file built from your scenery. That is for RC future use. Open that in Wordpad and paste that line for DTMB in your reply and we can update f4.csv for you. Be sure you label the f4.csv line and f5.csv line. Finally be sure you restart RC after running the scenery rebuild before you use it.
July 4, 201114 yr Commercial Member I'm on FSUIPC 4.664 and I see that there is a 4.70 now.Nothing earlier than 4.70 is supported for FSX. The current interim update is 4.711.The makrwys.exe came with the pack a few months ago and is dated 22 July 2007.That version of MakeRunways is very much out of date and that is your problem. The specific problem with Aerosoft's Monastir was discovered long ago (see thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/262429-afcad-question here in the Forum), and modifications made way back to process sceneries in two passes, one for deletions then one for additions.SOLVED!!!!I deselected the add-on scenery in FSX. Made a new makerwys run; checked the generated files that now include DTMB; I did a rebuild from RC; loaded the flightplan and all freqs are there. I select the scenery again; fired up FSX and RC and all works fine now.I'll have to keep that in mind when I install new scenery airport. No, please don't. That was the wrong solution as it will include default Monastir data not the more accurate data for the add-on. The thing to keep in mind is keep your software up to date, please.Pete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. July 4, 201114 yr Moderator Hi Pete,I typed FSUIPC into Google and this link was the first listed. http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlIt seems it's no longer your official site so perhaps it should be withdrawn. That is Enrico's site and he maintains it. It is the nearest to an "official site" there ever has been. Where are folks going to go if he closes it down? I don't understand what your problem is?I only have a support forum. I put interim and emergency updates there, as you should surely know by now? I can't control when Enrico updates his site. He's not often at home -- however, it is pretty well up to date, having all the currently supported versions of everything. And, for instance the version of MakeRunways there is March 2011, not the 4 year old version the OP was using!RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. July 4, 201114 yr Moderator Hi Pete,I misread what you wrote in an earlier message... Nothing earlier than 4.70 is supported for FSX. The current interim update is 4.711.As Enrico's site has 4.70 it is a version you support. I wrongly thought it was an unsupported version hence my message.Enrico's site holds your official releases and your support forum has links to beta ones. Is that assumption correct? July 4, 201114 yr Commercial Member The current interim update is 4.711.Actually it's 4.712. ;-)Enrico's site holds your official releases and your support forum has links to beta ones. Is that assumption correct?Yes. There are also a lot of other assorted goodies on the Forum. And the Schiratti page hosts the full releases. The updates on the Forum are often only the replacement DLLs, whatever, with no documentation or installer. It is important to note that I don't withdraw support for a version until Enrico has placed the next version on his Dowson page. There are a lot of links made to the Schiratti page from other websites, product information (including enclosures with CD/DVD packages), documentation, and so on -- not least, from the SimMarket purchase pages. It would be a huge wrench if it were taken down!RegardsPete Win10: 22H2 19045.2728 CPU: 9900KS at 5.5GHz Memory: 32Gb at 3800 MHz. July 4, 201114 yr Note that I posted both links in the pinned topic in the forum along with some basic additional instructions regarding dual installations of RC for FSX and FS9. I especially drew attention to makerwys.exe installation and running the RC rebuild for each version.Just before Pete replied I had provided the link to makerwys and told the OP to update it along with FSUIPC.One thing that may be confusing is that those who order the CD seem to be getting really old versions of both and those who get the download have more recent but not current versions. I'll see what I can do to revise that post calling attention to new and current users and it will contain an after installation leader.

July 4, 201114 yr Actually the revisions in makewys algorithms was investigated for the Flight Zone FS9 scenery for Portland and Rhode Island as I recall. There have not been any problems since that revision with the recursive(?) techniques you implemented.
