Little pic approach into LSZH Zurich bad weather conditions and a little mistake^^

Featured Replies

So today i did a little flight with the beautiful MD11F with Fedex Livery. Since i only have had 2 hours of time i decided to do a short hop EDDF-LSZH.I wanted to check out whether my computer can handle a complex airliner with bad weather conditions (default) and a bigger default airport.Nail%20Biting.gif Well, it can Big%20Grin.gif 25 fps the whole time :( (locked)Now i thought i share a little picture shortly before T/D. I wanted to do an Autoland but as you can see here, it is only an ILS approach because of missing autoland feature at RW 16 :( So it was a little harder than i expected but i came down in the T/D zone. A/P disconnect was 2 seconds after taking this picture. Now here it is :( 2011-7-4_20-27-4-5425kwi.png

Missing autoland feature? An autoland is just an automatic approach at the end of an ILS approach. Other than an ILS, the airport gets no extra equipment. What did you think was missing?

Sorry i expressed it a little bit weired. I wanted to state that i have done a little mistake somewhere in FMC-programming so Autoland couldn´t be enabled^^ So i thought that there are some missing parts in my flightplan programming^^ now it´s correct i think^^ Anyways, i was concentrated on doing a nice screenshot and didn´t check my systems. That´s what i wanted to tell^^

Untill you look into the details like:ILS autoshutdown response time in case of failureclearance of the critical area (taxiway stopsigns)runway lighting for appropriate RVR....Bert Van Bulck

The plane doesn't care what ground equipment is installed as long as it gets an ILS signal. It will try and autoland at Kai Tak if you allow it. You got the APP ONLY message because you probably made a small mistake in configuring the plane. There was a thread on this topic 2 weeks ago I think.Paul

I had simplified my response to suit the needs of the post. Just as Paul said, the aircraft doesn't send a query across the frequency to see if the stopway has been cleared, or the runway lighting is operational. All the plane cares about is that it has its signal and has been configured properly on the pilot side.Having been an airport planner, I could ramble on endlessly about the requirements, but it wouldn't suit our needs here, but thanks!

Thats what i wanted to say as i stated in my second post.. the first one sounds weird :( Actually it should teach you to ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SYSTEMS :( Because otherwise things like this could happen more often. And i can tell you it was a stressful situation :(

Sorry, I forgot that you are the one around here deciding what the needs are and what not.Bert Van BUlck

...and you took that offensively why?I simply pointed out that the "correction" wasn't entirely adding to the conversation. I simplified the discussion because making it too complex would have detracted from the point being made. No reason to get upset about it.
