July 4, 201114 yr I had some memory issues with my PC when I put it together and found 1 of my memory sticks was causing BOSD during windows start up so after removing 1 chip at at time it eventualy stopped BSOD and worked 100% of the time. I put the offending memory chip into my old PC and that started to BSOD too so I guess it was that. Anyway im running at 4GB now but my pc takes ages to start programs like FSX. It starts ok and then takes like 3 to 4 mins before the hard drive starts to grind away and then the program starts. Its like this with the DCS A-10c and most other heavy programs take forever to do anything. I know that running 2 DDR3 chips in a system with 3 slots makes the computer use its memory as if it where DDR2 but I dont think it should be taking so long. I have only the basic programs that windows needs at startup and my hard drive is defragged with Defraggler program so I know its not that. Should I just say to heck with it and get some new ram? I know I need to get 3 identical chips so I cant mix them but im wondering if there might be a bigger underlying problem. Thanks for advice in advance. July 5, 201114 yr Could just be the hard drive going. It takes 3 minutes before the hard drive even loads FSX? Otherwise there could be another program running in the background eating CPU resources. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

July 5, 201114 yr Running a system with faulty RAM for any length of time can cause all kinds of issues that persist even after removing the offending RAM. You could try a checkdisk, system restore, SFC, O.S. repair, etc. but chances are you just need to reload.
July 8, 201114 yr Author ok I got my new ram, 3X2GB Kingston 1600s Hyperx. Cleared up all issues I had with load times etc. I think I may just have had poor ram installed. Right now its spot on. Its cut down the time it takes FSX to start by at least half over the old ram. Even the hard drive used to read/write almost constantly but with the new ram it silent and hardly gets accessed when im in flight =) Andrew Simmons Intel i7 950+Corsair H70. 6 Gig ram Kingston Hyperx 1600Mhz ASUS GTX560 Ti (900mhz core/1800Shader/2100Memory) 1T Cavier Black HD + 1T Cavier Green for backup jobs.
