frame rate limiter

Featured Replies

Hello folks im wondering on how to use the frame rate limiter , i have down loaded it as per say , and created a batch file that saves to my desktop.fsx.exe. limiter.....what do i do with that file , when i click on it , it says it cannot find file.what am i doing wrong here , i have put the new fsx ,cfg file in place and im wanting to get the limiter to work.i did per instructions opened up the gui and directed it to the fsx.exe in the fsx folder, and ran a batch file and it appered on the deesktop, whatsb next.thanks.........Robert

Keep the fsx.exe.limited batch file that you created in the folder with all of the other files (the .dlls, the GUI). You can then create a shortcut to the fsx.exe file and put it anywhere you want.

You know what's strange? FPS limiter has always worked great, but recently it stopped working as I can see that my FPS has been spiking up to 40 FPS (I have set max FPS to 30)Anyone know why?

Yep, it´s weird, same here, spiking like crazy!Maybe a recent MS update?Or some Russian hacker is playing with the thing?Thinking.gif

Did you check to see if the "unlimted" setting within FSX has become changed?

Hi Opa, it's still at unlimited. You wouldn't know where I can re-download the FPS limiter would you? I remember having a real hard time finding the right one.

This is the link I used and the instructions also:Step 1 - Download the link below:http://rapidshare.co...Limiter_0.2.rarStep 2 - Extract the file anywhere you like, but make sure that the place where you put it, will be its PERMENANT location (this is to eliminate directory path problems in the future).Step 3 - Run the file in the folder that you just extracted, called "FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar", DO NOT run the "FPS_Limiter.exe" file, it will not work.Step 4 - When you have the program running in front of you, you will need to browse to the root location of the executable file of the game of your choosing. (NOTE: Games that already have an automatic 30fps cap cannot be increased any higher, so it is pointless to select these games)Step 5 - Once you have the game's DIRECT executable chosen, select from one of the 3 in the dropdown list at the menu at the top of the screen.D3D8 - DirectX 8 gamesD3D9 - DirectX 9 gamesOGL - OpenGL games (very few games run with the OpenGL language)Step 6 - Once you have selected either D3D8/D3D9/OGL, then select which framerate you want the game to lock at at the "maximum fps" box. For best results, if your lowest framerate is under 30, select a number that is 5-10 fps above for that specific game. If your framerate is above 30, select any number between 30 to 50. Experiment with it a little, you can always change your framerate lock.Step 7 - Once you've selected your Maximum FPS, click on "create bat" to make a .bat file in the FPS Limiter folder.Step 8 - When you're ready to play, double click on that .bat file. If you wish to make a shortcut, right click on the .bat file and select "Create Shortcut". You can change the name of the shortcut ONLY, do not change the name of the .bat file.NOTE: To change your Maximum FPS setting without repeating the whole process, right click on the .bat file created, and go to edit. Now find the line that says "/f:X" replace the "X" variable with whatever you like. Also be sure to set the target frame rate in FS to "unlimited".Hope that helps.

Thanks Opa for the very detailed response! The download link does not work. What I did was I downloaded *******'s anti-lag FPS limiter, and got it to work! (It does not interfere with enb-bloom at all, which is great)I can definitely tell a big difference when using an FPS limiter! Thanks again.
