Depends. If you are interested in a highly accurate GNS530, yes. The Reality XP unit is based on the actual Garmin trainer. The flip side of that is that it does not integrate with FSX (e.g. it will not follow a flight plan you create in FSX), and you cannot update the navigation database. It is sold using the Flight1 wrapper, by the way, which means that it comes with a 30-day money back guarantee in case you don't like it.

you can also get an upgraded 530 here that corrected a few things.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/338657-gps-530430/

The Carenado version is just the default version re packed a bit...The RXP version is based off the Garmin trainer therefore is very realistic. You will manually enter flight plans just like you would in the real unit. I have their 430W version because I want updated navdatabase for use on vatsim. You'll find a late 2009 database update over at the RXP simforums.com for free. Otherwise you can use a Jepp subscription and get a worldwide.bin file to update the database.I highly recommend either the RXP 530W or 430W. Both integrate natively (as in 3d gauges) in other planes such as the RealAir Duke, Diamond Katana (530 only), but both easily integrate into other planes like Lotus L39 (430 only but 3d knobs), previous Carenado stuff, Orbx Lancair, Milviz C310R etc...

absolutely true..Yes it seem to be a lot of money but you can use it on all planes and most new releases make special place for the RXPwhere GPS make part of the model. So end of the day it is not much if you split the cost over the planes and the quality is exceptional, so you really cant go wrong with RXP. I also took very long but once I bought it i ask myself why have I not bought it long ago..! it was money well spend even though at the time I thought I was nuts paying all that money for a GPS
