FS2Audio.dll on Windows 7 64bit

Featured Replies

HiI hope you can help. I have recently upgraded to a Windows 7 64bit OS. Since then the 737 has the [email protected] issue that has been mentioned in numerous threads. I have placed the fine in the sysWOW64 folder, but the problem persists. Having said that, I have found that if I click a couple of times when the error comes up, the aircraft will eventually load & fly, albeit without some of the sounds. Any ideas?

Please read the FAQ at the top of the forum.

Hi GraemeThanks very much for the reply. I probably didn't make myself very clear. I did read the instructions in the FAQ & did put the file in the correct windows folder. However, the problem still persists. The aircraft does work without some of the sounds so this isn't a huge issue - just an annoyance.I'm just hoping that someone else has has a similar issue & can tell me how to fix it.

The FS2Audio file is FS2Crew's audio engine, which we let the TinMouse dev's use in the TinMouse. It uses Microsoft's XACT technology.A few things can mess-up the FS2Crew Audio engine:1. Having a certain audio program running in the background, such as Tunebite, etc., that attempt to strip DRM rights from digital music. That's the first thing you should check.... check your audio programs that may be running in the background that try to mess with DRM audio rights.Apparently these types of programs are legal in parts of Europe, but not the United States. At any rate, Microsoft doesn't seem to like them.2. Not having the latest DirectX run-times installed. You can download and install them from Microsoft.3. Some users who have multiple sound cards running in parallel reported some issues with the Audio engine. Disabling one sound card seemed to resolve the problem in their situations.Cheers,

Hi BryanThanks very much for all the infoI have the standard Windows Media Player & also Winamp. I don't know if Winamp is capable of doing what you have mentioned but I'll uninstall it & try running FS without it. You mentioned the DirectX run-times. I've only been able to find those for DX 9. Are there any for DX 10 that you know of? I definitely only have 1 sound card so that's one potential issue that I can rule out.Just one more thing comes to mind having read your post. Probably about half the time I open FS, the FSSound.dll message comes up. I solved that long ago in WinXP in the Old Modules section of the cfg, but, although I have it there now, for some reason it keeps popping up. My guess is that they are related in some way. Any more ideas?I'll let you know once I've uninstalled Winamp. Thanks againBrian

Brian,You must install the current DirectX 9 version from the microsoft website. That fixed the error on my system.

Hi GraemeThanks again for the help. I didn't think DX9 would work in Windows 7, but I'll give it a tryRegardsBrian
