Removing legacy ATC calls - Orbit, Landmark, etc

Featured Replies

Hello:I've removed the appropriate names from the airline list (deleted).I have opened the .cfg file in the 737 aircraft folder and deleted the name of the offending airline after the words ATC=However, the name are still called by ATC.How can I remove the names completely. Thank you for your time and help, Iain

How about removing the default traffic file? Do you have other traffic.bgl files installed by packages?go to Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\scenery. Look for traffic030528.bgl and rename .bgl to .bgh. That's the default plan with Orbit, etc. Your package plans will be traffic.bgl or trafficnnnn.bgl as compiled by your traffic application in that folder where FS looks.See if that helps.

What are you trying to do? If you just want to remove all the made-up airlines, then turn off everything but General Aviation in the "Traffic" setup section. If you're trying to replace them with real aircraft names, then you need to replace "Orbit" with "American" for example. There are downloads out there that will basically replace the entire default aircraft sets with real-world planes. Not only will you get real names, but when you look at the planes, they'll be real, too.I'm guessing that what you've done is remove the names for the 737s, but those make-believe carriers also fly other planes, so you've got to hunt them all down - Dash-8, 777, 747, MD80 and so on.

Thanks for your replies@barfbag - I am trying to remove all traces of FD default fake names and liveries such as orbit, landmark, etc so when I hear ATC they will not call these aircraft names.I fly the PMDG 737 and use WOAI for my AI aircraft. As I fly jetliners, turning off the ATC tab is this area is not to my liking.I've done a search and removed all words that have anything to do with - let's say Orbit. But ATC still call the aircraft.I'm not sure if WOAI use the default 737 model (and others) to fly their model repaints in AI. I thought about just deleting the aircraft files, but decided against this - just in case.I'll do a search and see if I find the files you mentioned that completely replace the default FS names with real world names and liveries. I didn't think to do this & thunk this maybe the best idea.Cheers, Iain

http://www.world-of-ai.com/allpackages.php listinghttp://www.world-of-ai.com/ main page and link to installer description. Scroll down to see latest package descriptions. From what I see each package includes models, flightplan data, etc. models and data are AI Aardvark, Fruit Stand, Alpha India Group and others. I don't think they use default aircraft. The installer keeps your airline/flightplan package inventory. WOAI installer keeps everything integrated for you.http://www.world-of-ai.com/ammap/woai/woaimap.html is an interesting mouse-over global display of their package count by region. Start with your areas of interest and as your time permits build your inventory.Because of my time limits I use a payware collection that has not been updated for a long time called Ultimate Traffic 2007 for FS9 from flight1.com if you want a fixed all in one solution. However this payware was very weak on cargo schedules but I found separate freeware downloads at the time. I had earlier versions before the WOAI integrated packages became available.WOIA also has some more advanced GA aircraft plans as well as military, cargo. There is a freeware package for smaller GA around for your smaller airports. Just search the library. With all of this available just rename traffic030528.bgl as I posted to get real aviation for your AI/ATC environment. You should know that FS9 can accept multiple trafficxxxx.bgl files so what you can't get from WOAI you might find in the libs here or flightsim.com. just don't allow flightplan conflicts or duplication or you may see carbon copies of AI chasing each other :)

Thanks Ronzie. I did as you suggested. I'll see how it goes when I do a flight later on. Cheers, Iain

Here's an idea to allow you to look at a table of AI action around your location in FS. There are two freeware ways to do this. One is to get the traffic toolbox from MS and install Traffic Explorer. The other is to install FSUIPC if you don't have it and then get Pete's Traffic Look utility. You will not need the paid registration for FSUIPC to run Traffic Look.Traffic Look runs in its own Window and is a table grid of detected AI within the allowable maximum range. Information includes the destination, departure runway, destination runway, and flight phase status (sleeping - parked, taxiing, take off, landing phase, etc.) and of course the AI ID as flight/airline ID or Tail number. So you can start at your parked at your airport of interest to see what is going on with AI.If FSUIPC is causing a problem for you, and it usually does not, it is easy to disable. Here are the links:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html base released FSUIPC with documentation.http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ latest interim version of FSUIPChttp://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/ TrafficLook.exe You might have to run this with admin rights set unless you place it in your FS folder. This can tell you how your AI is performing at your airport of interest.Check out the WOAI forum for links to utilities that will decompile your traffic.bgl files to give you a schedule if you need it. Payware traffic programs may already have this. Maybe the installer does this.I use the freeware AITM for this. For FS9 you will need the first verrsion plus a alpha V2 upgrade for FS9. You will then need to install the freware TToolsv2 as advised from this or other library. If you use this and load a .bgl file your PC may look like it hung but it takes a long time to crunch the data. Once done you can query by airline, airport, etc. This is by the developer of FS Flight Keeper, a commercial package. Because of AITms versatility there is a learning curve but it extracts all of the data it needs from the trafficxxxx.bgl file. Unless you know what you are doing just use it for viewing and don't modify anything. Don't use the AI Randomizer!!!http://www.molitor-home.de/fs/aitm/There is also the freeware Traffic View Board but it needs updates for an internal airline list, the last one in 2008. The base file and updates are in the lib here.

For FS9 I always liked AI Traffic Mover. You can load up the default traffic file, delete all the airline traffic (or any subset) and recompile to keep the GA or what have you then recompile and replace. AITM also has a nice aircraft.cfg editor. scott s..

I also suggest AITM: http://www.molitor-home.de/fs/aitm/ For FS9 it is a two step install first installing the original (for FS8) then the alpha 2 update for FS9. Be sure to follow the instructions on installing the correct version of TTools, also version 2 I believe. You can create a project folder and then decompile the FS default file into it as Scott suggested. Remove all of the flight plans except GA and then recompile the project as maybe traffic99GA or something. If you do a schedule query be ware that it takes some time to crunch a traffic.bgl file. Your PC did not hang. I use it to examine the schedules of various traffficxxx.bgl files I download to supplement the commercial traffic packages particularly cargo flights. Instead of a limited row 'traffic board' you get a scrolling table that meets your query criteria. It is a bit technical to use but very powerful. For each new project you'll need an airports.txt file that you can get by decompiling the default traffic file and then copying airports.txt to another project folder.
