July 18, 201114 yr Hi all,I have just tried a flight from Gatwick to Ibiza in an Airbus A320. Upon getting to around 120NM from Ibiza, I was given a heading opposite to the direction of Ibiza which sent me back over the Spanish mainland. I speeded up the simulation to see if they would give me some new headings but they don't, just left on a infinite heading going away from Ibiza. I have noted this with Frankfurt airport too. Both use custom sceneries.Any help please?
July 18, 201114 yr Moderator You've almost certainly missed a waypoint so RC is turning you around to overfly it. Clearly you don't need to do this so press 9 and then select "Direct Chk" and request Direct To the waypoint you're currently flying to.This problem can happen if you're slow to acknowledge an instruction or warning when very close to the active waypoint. By the time you ack the instruction you've flown past it but RC still has it as the active. Ray (Cheshire, England). July 18, 201114 yr Author Fantastic Ray, thank you. I hope that works!! Thank you for always jumping in and helping me out :(
July 18, 201114 yr Moderator You're welcome Luke. I think the fact you have two commercial airports is coincidence. This problem happened too far out for that to be a factor but you did rebuild your database after installing that scenery didn't you? :( Ray (Cheshire, England). July 18, 201114 yr Author I certainly did. So when I use the direct to waypoint, does it just 'erase' the previous flight history and solely concentrate on the waypoint i've specified?
July 18, 201114 yr Moderator I certainly did. So when I use the direct to waypoint, does it just 'erase' the previous flight history and solely concentrate on the waypoint i've specified? It doesn't erase the flight history as such. It just makes your chosen waypoint the active one so you won't be told to fly a heading back to an earlier waypoint. Ray (Cheshire, England). July 20, 201114 yr You can also miss a waypoint if ATC or some other aircraft is talking especially if you have speeded up the sim rate.It can sometimes happen at X1 rate but not often. The active waypoint is always shown at the top of the RC dialog box.It pays to keep an eye on it.
July 20, 201114 yr It seems that increasing the sim rate, especially more than 2X, is a really frequent culprit. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
