Fs realtime : fsx reloads and hangs

Featured Replies

I am using fs realtime via widefs.During flights fs realtime causes the scenery very often to reload but not all reloads complete and fsx hangs and I have to kill fsx.exe.Is there a fix for this ?thanksVic

Hi Vic,What you can try is to disable Auto Update on FS Real Time.Just synchronize ("Set to Now") the time before t/o or at the gates and leave it for the rest of the flight. You might lose a few seconds or even a couple of minutes but it won't make any difference at the end.regards,Igor

FS reloads scenery if the time is changed by more than 1 minute. This shouldn't really happen very often, but it is annoying when it does, I agree.Hanging when reloading scenery used to happen to me very frequently back when I used FS9. I don't seem to get it very much in FSX, but I think it's indicative of a scenery, terrain mesh or autogen problem. If you can make a note of where you were at the time you might be able to narrow it down.RegardsPete

Pete,It happens all over the place. If i let fsrealtime autoupdate every 1 minute I get a crash guaranteed.it's not a matter of if it is a matter of when. What i do now is i let fuipc sync the time every 1 minute so the sim does not lag behind and at the same time I have fs realtime connected so it tells me what time it is where I am at that moment. Seems to work :-)

Yes, that is a way out, but if FSX is crashing on pretty much any scenery reload I believe there must be something wrong with your FSX installation, though how you'd work out what it is I've no idea I'm afraid.Currently I'm using Aiviasoft's EFB, with the display on a separate PC. The "data provider" part of the EFB package, which runs on the FSX PC, has a time sync facility too. It uses the same SimConnect controls to do this as FSUIPC does (whether using the automatic facility or FS Real Time), and I've not had it hang yet.Unlike the FSUIPC built-in sync, the Aiviasoft method operates after a pause of visit to a menu, instead of simply maintaining the fixed difference arising. This is nice but I suppose it could be a bit strange if you've done a short flight but with a long pause (for a meal or something) and find your flight time logged as including that hour. Not that I use any logging.Anyway, I'm glad you found a solution you can live with!RegardsPete
