FSX.CFG as Read Only to hold "Sound On"

Featured Replies

Hi All,Cannot figure this one out, my Flights always start with "Sound Off" in the top right hand corner, I have posted on this and nothing difinitive has allowed me to start the flight with sound on. I always go back and check the fsx.cfg and yes sound always goes back to =0 even after saving flights etc........yes its an odd one.Could I mark the fsx.cfg as read only so I can hold the sound on in the fsx.cfg..........or does it need to be a writeable document, are things writing to the fsx.cfg each flight or am I safe to mark it as read only to hold the sound on in the fsx.cfgThoughts anyone on this one........many thanks

NO! FSX.cfg is written to by FSX at the close of every session so it must not be flagged read only.Chances are a default flight got saved with sound OFF.Start FSX and load your default - if sound is OFF - hit Q to turn it on - then save the flight and check the "make this default flight" box. Then exit FSX completely.Reload FSX - sound should be on.Vic

You have to give the default flight a name, I have just called it default......but it does not save, reloaded fsx and sound is off, I have also reduced the sound quality in the sound properties and running 44000 @ 24bit

Hmm - so if you hit Q the sound comes on correct?what happens if you load the original FSX default flight - the one with the TRIKE? Does it load with the sound on?Vic

Many thanks Vic, ok after much stuffing around settings the sound to 44100 at 16bit (CD Quality) in wondows 7 its fixed, maybe the sound quality was too hight for what the core of FSX read....many thatnks to everyone for their reply...
