July 24, 201114 yr I have been using FSX for about 2months now on windows 7. Works great no problems. The fsx installation set came with another disk called acceleration expansion pack. I decided to install this into fsx. The install wizard started and then a box came up telling me " Please use control panel to remove Microsoft Fsx Service Pack 2". What is Service Pack 2 used for? I am afraid that if I remove SP2 that Fsx will not work. Could somebody give me an explanation of this.

If you previously installed SP2, you can uninstall it, using Control Panel / add-remove programs.Acceleration comes with it's own version of SP2 built in. Bert

July 24, 201114 yr Author I was about to uninstall SP2 but when I got into Windows 7 "Programs and Features" there is a listing called "Microsoft Flight SimulatorX Service Pack 2" but no listing for the FSX simulator program itself. Will removing this remove the whole FSX program as well as Service Pack 2 ? I just want to remove the Service Pack 2.

SP2 "hides" the default installation, as it (the default install "FSX") no longer exists. Uninstalling SP2 will restore the FSX to its PREVIOUS version.I installed SP2 also before Acceleration and had to uninstall it before Acceleration could be installed. It did NOT remove FSX itself.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

I have installed addon scenery and VA airplanes and AI data using Edit Voice Pack. Will uninstalling SP2 remove the addons I mentioned and leave me in a situation where I have to reinstall all these addons? I hate to be so clueless but I want to be sue it will leave eveything I installed after the inital installation of FSX.Thanks Ralph
