FO volume blaring loud then extremely quiet...then loud again

Featured Replies

I saw a topic like this a while back but after searching I couldn't find it again. I actually get this issue using FS2Crew for the PMDG J41, PMDG 747-400, and the Level-D 767.The issue is no matter what volume level I set in the config panel the FO's speech volume never stays the same level. Sometimes I hear him great, then for several checklists/flows he's so quiet I can barely hear him over the engines. Then the next second (sometimes in mid-sentence) his voice is making my ears bleed it's so loud. I know others have had this issue and I don't remember seeing a solution.I've installed SP1 for all versions of FS2Crew I have and I still get the issue in the J41, 747, and 767.It has to be something tied to my sound card if it effects different versions of FS2Crew but I don't have a clue. Any help out there? It's really dragging the fun out of using these great products because I can't hear my FO half the time. :(

Hi, I'm afraid I can't explain it... It's never happened to me. I suspect it may be hardware related. This is how I have my volume set up... 1. Windows Master Volume Full. 2. Speaker volume (knob on speakers themselves)... Mid Level (what you'd use if watching a movie). 3. FS2Crew volume knob (set at the 9 o'clock position) Try those settings and see what happens. Best,

Thanks for the reply Bryan. Unfortunately, I've tried every volume configuration setting for my system I can think of, including all the suggestions you gave, and the issue remains. The only thing I can tie this to is the fact I use an onboard sound card vs a separate sound card. Are you using something for sound other then the motherboard?

Hi, I have an newer motherboard, and the newer ones don't generally require an external sound card as the on-board sound is pretty good... but I stress 'generally'. I suspect this is a hardware issue as it's very rarely reported and I've never experienced it, nor have the testers. You could try upgrading your sound card... it might do the trick. Cheers,
