July 29, 201114 yr Yestrday I cleaned my computer since my fans where going bazurk; i only dared to vacuum it outside and cleaned the grills thouroghly...So far it has helped and the fans haven't cut in at full speed! And for ever. While plugging everything back and restarting computer, I plugged in my stick FF2 into a USB and it told me it was installing software while making the connection. I run win7 and have read many posts that win7 doesn't support the stick? And MS isn't willing to make an update for it!? Any way I let it installed till the end; Then I started FSX Accel. but the stick is the same no forces!? But while in windows before the sim loads the stick has forces. I have also tried to run the set up software from disc in XP compatability mode and that didn't help either. The stick works the forces are barely notisable. How can I get it to work properly; Any advice will be helpful Berlopez I posted in Flight Simulator tips and Tricks forum wrongly sorry,I hope this is the right forum for my question?
August 1, 201114 yr There's no updated software for the stick. Buy FS Force to get proper forces out of your stick. I've been happy that combination for a long time. https://www.youtube.com/user/JustaRandomSimmer Simulator Videos http://sierra-hotel.blogspot.com Aviation Picture Blog
August 10, 201114 yr I have the same problem as the OP. Have just bought a used Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick to use in FSX on my Windows 7 64bit OS. The microsoft software for the stick doesn't work in Win7 (or any other OS I tried). The stick installed automatically via USB but the control panel to adjust the force feedback strengths and settings is not available:( I've tried the demo of FS Force and it doesn't make much difference sadly. Same weak FF strengths. I'm not forking out $34.95 for it either. It's nearly the same price as the stick cos me! Everyone raves about the FF2 but it doesn't appear to work correctly in Windows 7? Has anyone got the control panel working? Adam
August 10, 201114 yr The Sidewinder FFB2 does not work in windows 7. I have the registered version of FsForce2 and can confirm that it does not enable the stick to work in Windows 7. Don't purchase FsForce2 thinking it will help, you have to get a newer stick. That said, FsForce2 is an amazing program and I recommend it to anyone who has a compatible FFB joystick. It's a great add on and worth every penny.I used it with much success on my old Vista box. I just upgraded hardware and switched to Windows 7, and now I have to find a new solution for my input. I'll probably need to get rid of my FFB2 and just buy something else.
August 10, 201114 yr My stick works fine in Win 7. https://www.youtube.com/user/JustaRandomSimmer Simulator Videos http://sierra-hotel.blogspot.com Aviation Picture Blog
August 10, 201114 yr Did you do anything special to enable it to function? Mine is detected by windows, but FSX locks up when it's plugged in, as does the FsForce profiler. If I unplug the FFB2, everything runs fine again.I guess it's a crapshoot.
August 11, 201114 yr It is a normal Plug 'n Play device as far as I can tell. I haven't had lockups with with it, though the FS Force application sometimes disconnects the stick without any good reason. I've heard that there are two versions of FF2 available, the one with silver trigger (or something like that), and one with red trigger. I own the latter. https://www.youtube.com/user/JustaRandomSimmer Simulator Videos http://sierra-hotel.blogspot.com Aviation Picture Blog
August 11, 201114 yr Ah, my version is the grey-trigger one. Perhaps that's significant. Either way, I've had to remove it from my setup. I really liked that stick, and I want to continue using FFB since FsForce is such a nice program. The search begins for a new controller. I had the Logitech G940 but I had to replace it 3 times due to overheating issues, so I'm ruling it out.
August 15, 201114 yr Author AS far as identifying the sticks the old one has a round ball-like throttle. the new one has a little handle, and yes the trigger is silver. Someone made a payware program to make forces more efficient in FF2,I belive it's called FSFORCE? I had it in Fs9 and it works fantastic.
August 15, 201114 yr Author Just to make things clear...Does FSForce2 work in windows 7 32 bit? I just want to ask for advice before I purchase of try the free demo?I'm grateful for any advice. 15-8-11: My FF2 gives me forces in windows like now while I'm typing I can put my hand on the stick and feel forces on all directions. But! as soon as I start FSX during satrt up the foces dissapear and the stick goes limb?
August 16, 201114 yr Author No, Mine is the silver trigger FFB2,with the little handle as the throttle, not the half ball,on the left side of the sticks' handle.and a little green light just behind the silver Microsoft logo. When I first discovered FSForce I was running Windows Vista on this computer, then I got hit by the mcAfee bug last year, and that ruined everything. FSForce worked flawlessly with this stick on that OS.
August 17, 201114 yr Author I attepted to install a trial version of FSForce today for my MSSWFF2 stick. I have had this software before running perfectly on Fs9 But decided to test it in FSX\Gold and win7. I made a stupid mistake, forgetting the software is only active in the KSEA area In Seattle Washington. I started my sim default and forgot this and when I realized that the software wasn’t working proceeded to uninstall. It has it’s own uninstaller under the program under start. So I didn’t have to delete anything. ...But!? Here's the problem now...My FSX.exe got ruined and the sim won’t start. The opening screen is all I get and three scenery.cfg error messages from the scenery included in the wilco Citation X which I just click ok to go to the next step. Then I wait until I get a “ FATAL ERROR WHILE LOADING FSX MESSAGE” At the bottom right of the screen. there I click “ok” as well and then the simm.or opening screen dissapears. I have a complete copy of a working FSX installation from a aprevious date on an external hard drive...From here I coppied the FSX.exe to my existing FSX installation on my computer on my C:\Unfortunately this didn’t work either. I fear a complete reinstall or a repair which would give the same results.I blame myself completely for this stupid mistake, any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
