Chart Question

Featured Replies

I noticed that on some charts there is a Maltese cross at the Final Approach Fix andI assume ( correct me if I am wrong ) that this indicates the start of the Final Approach Fix.( see screen shot at Lompo ) What puzzles me is that some charts do not show this symbol.( Ex Geneva airport,ILS05 and ILS23 ) Is there a reason if any ? The Final Approach Fix doesn't have a start. It's a point in space. That cross does however mark the Final Approach Fix. Other charts might not have it because different chart makers use different formatting.

In the United States, the Maltese cross marks the final approach fix (FAF) on non precision approaches only. On precision approaches the FAF is marked by a lightning bolt symbol that occurs at glide slope intercept at the published altitude.
