to all PSS A320 (or other products) clients.....

Featured Replies

Hello there guys, due to the fact that every post of this matter is not "published" on PSS forum, I would like to share my thoughts with all the guys that have PSS A320 and cannot fly it on FS9.The thing is that FS9 has been out for months and still PSS has not released the patch for our and their A320. I think I can speak for all of us that we love this product or others from PSS. We love the way they help us when we have some tech problem with the a/c. But despite it, the fact is that we cannot fly the bird on FS9. Apparently they decided to first cure A330/340 and then take care of A320. But I found this a bit disappointing because I think they should give priority to us, already devoted clients to PSS, instead to new products. I know that this kind of software correction is a huge work to do but that's their job, paid from our purchases.Postponing support to A320 and putting their clients on such a long wait can be a bad publicity to people that are willing to become PSS future clients. In fact, I think all the virtual flyers , at this point, are able to judge and choose a product/add-on not only from panel eyes candy but even from the support that they can receive from the producer. If I know that it can take months before having a patch for some software, I guess I can think it over several time before buying. PSS should think about it as well (I think they did!) and kind of change their future relationship with us, the clients. What do you guys think about it?I don't want to sound unhappy with PSS. I will always buy their products, I love A320 and all the guys at PSS even if I don't know them personally. The thing is that it has been months and it'll take some more months to have what it takes to fly the bird again.....Hopefully not to the time FS9 will be replaced by future versions to make A320 obsolete.....bests to allMichael, Italy

I hope that you have voiced this concern with many of the other talented flightsim addon software developers. It is understandable that you love their products, but you also have to bear in mind that PSS is not obligated under any written contract or word of mouth that they had or have to write a patch for the A319/320/321 family. As far as I am concerned it is a courtesy that they are extending to hundreds of their devoted Sim Fans by saying thanks for your support. The A330/340 if aI am not mistaken was a project already in progress just prior to the release of 2004, so making it adaptable at that time would have made sense. Guys, I know the love for Flight simming is highly addictive and everyone wants to fly their favorite aircraft, remember "Rome was not built in a day". I am sure these guys have personal lives just as well as anyone else, and they too have to set standards for their office procedures. It would be practical to address one project at a time, unfortunately some projects take a little longer than others due to the complexity of the model, or on the other hand complications may arise that need a different approach to rectify the problem.I do not think that it is fair to state that PSS postponed the A320 project. It was just a matter of time. The A330/340 project was a new release with several problems, which needed addressing. On the other hand the A320 worked and still works perfectly in FS2002, which it was originally designed for. So if you feel the need to fly a bus that is not FS9 ready, just crank up the ever popular FS2002 and fly your heart away. Good things come to those who wait.Merry Xmas to all.....and may the New Year bring us lots of technologically advanced addons.Happy SimmingKroswyndFor those who want to create a fire out of this...don't waste your time. Look PSS is in business and the reason they released the A330 and A340 (as incomplete and non-FBW as they are) was a good move from a business strategy point of view. They now secure that market space (A330/340) as other developers will be reluctant to build a product that is already out. They can then take the next few months to fix it and then worry about the Dash 8 and A320. I would guess that the 747 and 777 will be out before any of the above issue are addressed for the same strategic reason. The game here is NOT to develop good products but just to get yours on the shelf first and worry about fixing it later.Remember its not Flight Sim FUN or Flight Sim FRIENDS but Flight Sim BUSINESS.Mark.

Hiya Crosswind,Just to add a bit... PSS *did* publically announce that their A32x, Dash-8, and Vulcan would be updated for free to be compatable for FS2004, well prior to the release of the new simulation. I agree, they were under no obligation to do so, and technically, they are still under no obligation to do so (but the customer service and reputation impact would be enormous should they not - *note, there is NO rumor that they are not). Their announcement was obviously not a legal contract, and they weren't required to do it, but I think many of the folks who are itchin' for the updates are those who purchased the products BECAUSE of the announcements. Many folks who may have gotten into simming later than many of us could have been planning their purchases around the new sim, only buying those which were or would be made compatable. I think these are the people most anxious for updates, and in a way, rightfully so. They purchased on the word of the developer that it would be working, and although the developer DID NOT specify *when* it would be ready, I think most people are getting to the point where they feel it's been too long of a time. I understand the frustration with the wait, as I too often feel the same way. *BUT*, after the episode we experienced with the original FS2004 patch, I *COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND* the delay we are seeing with the new ones. PSS really took a beating due to the failure of the patch, and I can see them really not wanting to repeat that. Ever.Personally, I go through phases with this. :) One day I'm calm and patiently waiting, the next I am anxious and really wishing they could be working. In the end, we'll have working Airbusses - not to fear. Until then, I have some other complex addons to keep my attention in FS2004. :) -Greg

well said Mark. This is one of the reason why i jumped over to X-Plane.Happy ChristmasRon

Krosswynd...you're right bout the fact that no company is obliged to do a patch for their software...it is jus a matter of curtesy to say thanks to their clients.....but the fact is that we didn't receive that kind of "thanks" yet.....Also remember that I didn't say the postponed the project. I wrote "apparently" which means it appeared to me this fact and I can be completely wrong: no problem about it.....and finally it is not matter of addiction. I'm a real pilot too and have a lot of chances to fly with real planes that makes virtual flight not strong enough to cause me an addiction. I think I've learned a lesson with this fact: from now on I will choose add-ons not on frame rate potential only but on the fact that a product can be used and served for a little longer than some months.Mark, I hope you're not right about it because if what you said is actually what it is really happening, than this can be seriously called a fraud. I mean, selling one product as perfect while knowing it is faulty is nothing but fraud....If we buy something, like a TV, and that is imperfect, the reseller is obliged to tell us so and lower the price to less than half price. Some resellers are even void of selling faulty thing.....so I would like to believe in all this companies good will and in PSS lack of knowledge of their A340 bugs with FS9.Michael, Italy
