FS2004 crashes when loading in full screen mode

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm not sure what I did, but now when I try to load FS2004 in "full screen mode," it crashes when "loading weather" at about the 76 percent point (this is after selecting the create a flight options). I get a mssg saying FS2004 has encountered an error. The interesting thing is that this does not happen if I load FS2004 in non-full screen mode (alt + tab).Any ideas? I must have installed a texture or something that FS doesn't like.thanks.

I had this problem after installing the FSW 32-bit cloud textures. I found from postings in these forums that it could be fixed by changing the RenderToTexture value in FS9.cfg to 0. It worked for me.Hope this helps,Dugald

I'm thinking in changing my graphic card because I think it is the reason.I can't find RenderToTexture value in FS9.cfg!? In what section?Well, another try :-)thanks in advanceRegardsCMG

CMG,Start FS9, go to Settings / Display / Hardware and it is the first top right box to uncheck.Roger

Hi CMGIt's in the section headed 'DISPLAY.Device....', but as Roger says, you can also change it from the Options menu within FS9.Dugald

Hi, "I had this problem after installing the FSW 32-bit cloud textures. "Little clarification, 32-bit cloud textures dot not need render to texture enabled at all and it will not cause any crash. But Dxt3 format, this will cause the weather loading crash if render to texture is off.Use only the 32bits clouds you will not have any crash and no problems with many others 3rd party addons that's require render to texture OFF. And you can get better performance on some situation.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Hi ChrisThanks for the clarification. I mistakenly interpreted comments by you in earlier threads as indicating that Render to Texture SHOULD be off for the 32-bit textures, whereas what you really said was that it COULD be off - I must learn to read things more carefully!Anyway, the happy consequence of my mistake was that I did change the value to 0, and this certainly cured the problem. FS9 now loads without crashing, and I am able to enjoy your great textures. Many thanks for your contributions to our hobby.Dugald
