1st day experience on low end system

Featured Replies

Hey all, just wanted to share my experience. My system specs: Q8200 @ 2.33GHz, 4GB DDR2, Nvidia 9500GT (driver 275.33) running Win7 32bit. Using recommended settings according to the manual, on a 1440x900 (4:3) monitor.FSX traffic & autogen disabled.Rest of the sliders almost at max.Using ******* Altuve's excellent tips & shader mod.Frame rate between 12.5 to 22 in the VC. On 2d panel it rarely drops below 20.Graphic issues found (mostly due to the low-end GPU): long redraws when switching views (especially to spot view or VC). Will try lower resolution VC textures tomorrow.Other issues which I've encountered a few times but been unable to reproduce: FSX process crashing after exiting. Failure to control & cutoff fuel for both engines at once (using the keyboard). Clicking on the levers works fine.I have also been unable to reproduce the performance problems mentioned by another person when using the Copa repaint. I've used it in at least 3 different (although short) occasions with no noticeable problems at all. I've been reading lots of posts here and I believe 95% of the "problems" reported would be solved if people read the manuals/instructions. I've used LNAV,VNAV, autoland and alt/speed interventions without any issues to report. So far it's been an enjoyable experience. I'm attaching a screenshot of the NGX following a STAR to KSEA (CHINS) for an ILS approach into 34L. 1stngx.jpg Enjoy! And to all of you with purchase/activation problems: hang in there... it is worth it!Congrats PMDG crew! Enrique Vaamonde

You give me hope..I have about the same specs as you other than 8gb of ram and Win7 64. Been holding back on buying but I think I'll go for it now..hey I live right under that STAR.

You can't go wrong with the NGX Gil... it is really a very complex and detailed add-on!Be aware: Once you buy it, you will add some 3000 to 4000 pages to your reading list!LOL.gifcheers!Enrique Vaamonde

Well my specs are 2.8 Ghz dual core AMD, Nvidia GTX460 1gb, 8Gb of ram, 750W power supply and I was getting 22 to 31 FPS on the ground (I have External FPS Limiter set at 30 FPS) and 30 steady right after taking off. I have my Autogen in Dense, Scenery complexity at very dense, Traffic at 25%. I don't consider my specs low end but definitely is not a computer most people would envy LOL.gif
