  1. Hi Amir, any chance of including Asobo's wx radar implementation in this release? Thank you
  2. Dear Abrams, I'll tell you what will happen, based on the track of broken promises such as "DC-6 for P3Dv5", "Navdata update", "LNAV 2.0", "upgraded 777 VC"... etc... They will not update the LNAV / Navdata because they are finishing the 777. But wait... then comes the 747, which won't include that either. Oh... and then maybe (and that's a big maybe because in my opinion - and I hope it happens - the iFly team will eat their lunch) comes the MAX and it might just use the current NG capabilities - they can't leave iFly dominate the MAX market after all. Besides, no one in the Xbox side of the street cares about a good LNAV implementation, right? Heck, even people in this thread won't care. So... in reality - by judging the current 737 line in MSFS - what we're really seeing (and paying for) are graphical/quality of life improvements in products that haven't received real technical updates in a very long time. I don't think I'll be proven wrong regarding the 777. They are just "porting" stuff over that was built more than a decade ago. I've been a PMDG customer since the FLY! days... that's what? 25 years ago? I own the 737 in MSFS and will buy the 777 because I love that bird. But in all honesty, I'm buying it because no one else is creating these aircraft, not because I am a loyal follower of the RSR sect. The guy has become so full of himself lately that it's no longer funny. Oh, and if it wasn't enough, they recruited Señor Kok... perfect fit if you ask me.
  3. I don't see mentions of WX radar in the product description. Is it implemented or left out like the Terrain "radar"? Thanks
  4. Lovely set, Bernd. Definitely a place worth visiting soon! Thanks for sharing.
  5. Actually, you are right. I forgot about that one. It is a very nice implementation as well, I used it the other day when flying around KLAS and was very good for situational awareness.
  6. +1 I think both Just Flight and Leonardo manage to provide a very plausible radar experience. I'm all for realism, but I'd rather have a basic wx radar than nothing at all. I wish PMDG would do the same, but seeing the snarky responses posted by RSR about it, I don't think we'll see anything like it anytime soon.
  7. Great review! I purchased the update just this weekend, but haven't had the time to test it yet. Your pics definitely are driving me to launch XP12 before the weekend ;-D Thanks for sharing!
  8. I think the trailer looks pretty fun. I've come to terms with MSFS regarding its real target audience and scope. In my case, I've found enjoyment by understanding it is a fun aviation game with some varying aspects of realism and levels of simulation fidelity. If I want something more complex or high-fidelity (hate the term study-level) I'll go with Aerowinx PSX or P3D. Having said that, I definitely love the fun aspects of what's in that trailer! Firefighting? SAR? Cargo? Oh yeah! Bring it on please!!! I wish MS/Asobo would introduce an airline career mode similar to what we had back in the Sublogic's ATP days. Now THAT was fun.
  9. Yes and no! JustSim's is more detailed... the buildings and the mesh are better than AS. However, I find JustSim's night lightning and textures inferior, so most likely I'll stay with AS version, unfortunately.
  10. Hi, I don't own the Nimbus for what it's worth. However, I've been burned in the past by Nimbus lack of support in their scenery products and have since then hesitated to buy their Huey or the Islander. On the other hand, Thranda is great at supporting their products. I know which BN-2 I'll be buying for XP12. Hope this helps.
  11. Beautiful shots, Filou! Thank you for sharing!
  12. I'd be surprised if that ever happened... I'm sure our nice friends at Microsoft/Asobo used their "embrace and extend" tactic with IniBuilds when they brought the A310 to MSFS, most likely signing an exclusivity agreement. I understand why Microsoft/Asobo would do that from a business point of view, but they ended up collaterally screwing previous IniBuilds customers who most likely are also MSFS customers (like myself), which is a stupid tactic. I would express MS/Asobo my gratitude for killing the possibility of having my *PAID* A310 in XP12 and forcing me to use their free subpar version, but I can't because their forum admins are incompetent, and I can't login using my account since MSFS launched (in the case you're wondering why I'm not ranting in their own forum).
  13. Ignorance is bliss! hehe. Thank you for the pointer to that thread, I remember reading it but lost it. Bookmarked now! For those interested, the "Heritage" mod I mentioned, which sounds promising, is located here (I hope I'm not breaking any rules by putting the link here, if so, please feel free to edit it): Concorde Heritage avionics package upgrade - Payware Aircraft - X-Plane.Org Forum
  14. Thank you, Ray. Much appreciated. I am thinking that, at the current sale price of $39, it is a fair price for a "trainer" to get me started while FSL delivers the "real thing". While I've never taken Concorde seriously in my "career" as a simmer, I enjoy old school jetliner challenges and was proficient in aircraft such as the RFP 742 (now we have an awesome rendition by Felis for XP), the "Iron Knuckles" DC-9 and the DF727. I do realize this will be a steep learning curve, though! Thanks again!
  15. I'm thinking of getting the Colimata Concorde for XP12, in preparation for the FSLabs release for P3D. Does anyone know how accurate systems-wise it is when integrated with the Heritage Mod? I'm particularly curious about the Fuel System modeling, considering all the things I've read about it by @Ray Proudfoot Thanks!
  16. As the person who authored the phrase you're quoting, I can assure you that, based on "enhancements" post SU7, weather is absolutely lacking. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that. And, without knowing your background, those who share my opinion have authentic and educated knowledge regarding weather. If the current state of things suits you well, then... congrats! enjoy the sim. We definitely have different expectations.
  17. This same argument has come twice in this thread, and I can't for the life of me understand what you mean by that. Have you guys been using the same Active Sky version I've been using in P3D (version 4 or 5)? Because save for MSFS graphics, weather simulation using P3D+AS combo is miles and miles beyond what MSFS has to offer today. If by "really good" you mean somewhat accurate METARs and a few beautiful clouds when flying your Piper Cub around your home airfield in VMC, then we have different expectations or case-uses regarding flight simulation. I don't mean this in a derogatory way at all, nor I'm I looking to engage in an endless debate here, I'm just trying to understand what you find so "good" about it when - to me and others in this thread - weather seems like an afterthought to Asobo.
  18. Frankly, I don't understand it either... and, it profoundly saddens me that teams/companies such as yours could pay the ultimate price because of such myopic decisions. I sincerely hope you're able to stay in the game for a long time. Otherwise, what a great loss it would be to our community. I've been a loyal customer of yours since the start, both in the FS and XP world, and I thank you for all the dedication in improving my simulation experience during all these years.May the wind soon change in your favor!
  19. Alternate experiences meaning "realistic atmospherics"... as far as I remember the name of the title is "flight simulator". How you can call it a flight simulator with such a poor weather rendition (and I don't mean graphics wise) is beyond me. Then I read opinions such as the guy above claiming you would "drag" us back to the fsx/p3d and then I understand how we got to this point... Honestly, it's great that fair weather simmers are happy with the current state of weather, in the end MSFS is great for scenic tours of the world... but all I care is for Asobo to give us the choice of getting realistic weather depiction through fine programs such as ActiveSky. They'll have to do this sooner or later if they want the "simulator" part of their title to really mean something.
  20. Like I said above: XP12 has the best default wx depiction / atmospherics simulation of the three. It isn't my "go-to" sim for other reasons. I'm not going to nor am I interested in engaging in a discussion between simulators (we all know how this ends up), so I'll just say this: just yesterday I fired MSFS and made a quick NRT-KIX flight in the A310. Weather was bad around Tokyo and along the route. I saw good storm clouds but also prominent "volcanic ash" clouds. I also flew the aircraft towards and crossed an area showing red on the wx radar and all that happened was some visible small jumps due to turbulence and wind shifts that only translated in small variations in IAS. Besides the nice visible rain effect, nothing extraordinary to report. Now, I'm not saying there has to be hurricane-strong winds or hail storms every time (although the clouds looked like I was about to enter one), but there was little to no worrying consequences from doing so. I'm using "default" turbulence settings, in case you're interested. I hope Asobo reverses their decision of keeping the wx API closed to third parties such as Hi-Fi, the potential is there.
  21. Thanks for replying. That's disappointing. I was flying the Maddog the other day and saw some returns on the weather radar. I've gotta say it felt pretty cool...regardless of how limited the depiction was.
  22. I hope they continue to support existing products in versions 6. Just this weekend I spent close to 200 EUR purchasing P3D add-ons I had on my wishlist. I've invested lots of money in XP12 and MSFS in recent months, but honestly, none of these fill the void in their current state. I own both the NGXu (P3D) and the NG3 (MSFS). I also have LSH's Maddog for both platforms. Regardless of the evident graphics improvements in their respective MSFS versions, and even considering P3D 5.3's shortcomings, fact is I prefer both add-on versions for P3D. It's not only they feel more "mature" in P3D, but their interaction with the environment feels better (regardless of MSFS "dynamic" atmosphere). Just as an example: I spent some time hopping between Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico in these two over the weekend. Even using the "outdated" navdata and AFDS of the NGXu, it felt light-years ahead of how the NG3 feels in MSFS. Gone were the crazy FD bars and its quirkiness, and the pitch instability. On the other hand, the Leonardo felt much better when hand flying (even if it "flies on rails"). Another aspect: during these flights, the weather wasn't great and I quickly reflected on how an important factor (I'm using ActiveSky) wx really is in P3D (while being FAR from perfect). The ability of depicting SigWX brings a lot of joy in flight planning, but also forces you to make decisions based on the forecasts and employing the wx radar (as basic as it may be compared to real-life). In the other sim, regardless of the "scary" looking volcanic-ash clouds, nothing really happens. XP12 is better in that regard, I admit. But it's still missing many important things at the moment to be considered my go-to simulator. Anyway, back to the P3D argument: not only was cloud depiction spot-on, but in general the entire weather dynamics were very accurate and made the entire flights worth planning. The times I hit bad weather conditions, it really felt like I was in a place I shouldn't be or would not rather be. Even with P3D's "aged" graphics, I have yet to experience in the other simulator the fascination of seeing thunderstorms at night from a safe distance while cruising at FL340, keeping them in check on the wx radar, and understanding it's not only a cool graphics effect but really nasty stuff happening there. I hope LM manages to retain compatibility in v6 with current add-ons... otherwise it'll be 5.3 for a long time to come.
  23. no mention of a wx radar, has anyone tried this update and see if it includes it? thanks!
  24. Wow... Rest in Peace, Roy. I had lost track of him... sad to learn about his passing. Prayers to his family. Thank you for the information.
  25. Very nice shots, thanks for sharing!
