  1. I'm not sure if there will be sectionals, but if they chose to build the VFR maps using a layered approach (I'm speculating), I hope they contain enough details to avoid the need to use sectionals. At the end of the video, one can see the San Diego area and it's definitely missing a lot of information contained in the sectionals. I hope in that part of the video they were showing a "filtered" version of the details what you can get using this new version of charts. I really really hope that is the case!
  2. Hola amigo! Good to see you around having fun! Let's hope it's fixed then, fuel is expensive these days to be flying around with the gear down 😁
  3. "X-Plane 12 Early Access is available now." Source: X-Plane.com front page. Do you realize this concept isn't new, right?. Charging full price for Early Access is something that has been going on for a long, long time in the gaming industry.
  4. And from my understanding, the intention is to bring the rest of the scenery areas to that same standard. To what extent? We'll see. But KPDX in my *subjective* opinion, looks very nice.
  5. Very nice. Can you confirm if they have fixed the emergency landing gear lever clickspot? It's happened to me more than a few times that I mistakenly clicked on the lever, and there's no actual way to retract it. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for sharing, that's a nice bird! Looking forward to the FW-190 as well!
  7. A very subjective con. But, please carry on, the feast goes on.
  8. Do you realize it's the same for DCS? And that's hardly a non-2022 sim. Any other simulator than MSFS has huge disk requirements, if you think of it. Like I said before... I use P3D, MSFS, XP11, IL-2, DCS, etc. I understand the autogen / old textures argument. I think it's too early to know how XP12 will look two or three years from now. XP11 in 2022 is hardly the same XP11 of 2017. Let's give it time.
  9. If you go to that other site and search about the topic, you'll see that the new textures and autogen improvements are part of a limited number of areas at the moment. The rest of the scenery will be brought up to similar standards such as the demo areas as XP12 matures. How soon or how complete the coverage? Time will tell.
  10. You should go to that other website and search for a post "The meaning of magenta in X-Plane 12". You need to file a bug report.
  11. Cut them some slack, these usual suspects must be angry by the endless streams of CTDs on "the other side".
  12. I like what I'm seeing, considering the early access version. It will improve. Thank you for asking.
  13. I use all three, sir. I'm very well aware of what I have in front of my eyes. I'm also aware it's been only 24 hours since the EARLY ACCESS version was released.
  14. I really laugh at the assymetry shown in many posts in this thread. XP12 launches in early release: gets blown to pieces. MSFS launches as a complete product and we were given an early beta (at best): "how dare you have so little faith in MSFS/Asobo?! It's a 10 year project!" Two years later, and I still want to have the MSFS I was promised and paid for according to the marketing videos. So... let Laminar Research do their thing, they are more than capable. Those of us who are honest and well-intentioned towards having an XP12 available in our hobby can only benefit from this. Those of you who bought it only to "prove your point". Your job is done. Now go back to your sim of choice and let the rest of us enjoy the ride towards a mature XP12.
  15. Clouds I don't know how much they can polish, I would hope so, of course. But I'm not sure if it's a design decision that will be hard to change during the life of XP12. Let's wait and see. Like Asobo, I hope LR balances the cloud types and include high clouds. Precipitation in general (snow on windshield in the current form isn't spectacular either) is something I'm sure they'll get right. Last night I was approaching JFK with clouds and scattered rain showers, and it was very nice to hear the effect of the rain showers on the Citation. Very immersive. Once they make the rain effect somewhat better, it'll be hard to beat.
  16. There are some new things that will make it into the final version. The custom FMGS for the A330 comes to mind. I understand there are more default art assets and some enhanced gateway airports that are not in this version. The rest, as you say, will be bugfixing and polishing. In the end, XP12 will be loved by many and hated by many. Nothing new under the flightsimmers sun. What an angry and sour bunch we are 😁.
  17. Right behind you buddy... C'mon Jean-Luc, throw us a bone 😉
  18. I agree with Bjoern. Besides, anyone willing to see the potential behind X-Plane 12 and a true backer of the platform perfectly understands the limitations behind the current Early Access (which contrary to many here, I've been enjoying). The only area where we can expect little improvement (that I know of) is in the scenery department. But we already knew that. If anything, the feedback they are getting should help in getting 1.0 ready in a much better shape.
  19. I'm loving this early release so far! The lighting is great. The weather is great. Seasons are great. The new aircraft are very nicely done. Even the new autogen-based scenery is very sold (I'm sure your mileage will vary depending on the availability of accurate OSM data). Overall, I think it's a great release and to think it will continue to improve for a number of years just like Laminar did with XP11 is fantastic. Here are a few shots of flying around KJAC in snowy weather (and yes, you can see snow hit your windshield... and breaking action sure suffers according to the level of snow and/or ice in the weather settings). This last one is near L.A:
  20. Yeah I'm having issues checking out too. I hope they sort it out ... the demo was AWESOME, I'm loving what I'm seeing so far!
  21. Well, I have two 1 gigabit fiber optic connection from two different providers at home, and believe me they are as fast as advertised. No, the melted buildings and bad photogrammetry are still happening and definitely not "fixed" by having a " superfast connection". If there's something I'm missing, please do tell.
  22. Lovely shots. I don't know where he got that screenshot from, but I fly in California most of the time when I want to go low and slow., and the photogrammetry in many cases leaves a lot to be desired. Many times I just opt to turn it off and go with Autogen, it's unbearable to fly over melted buildings (though with climate change one never knows how our world will look in 30 years, maybe Asobo is getting us ready!)
