August 6, 201114 yr How long does the GPS take for you guys to find a position? Hasn't been able to for me. Patrick Houghton
August 6, 201114 yr If you mean the IRS initialization process, it takes 10 minutes in real life, but there is an option in the FMC to speed it up to 30 seconds. But I had the impression that the GPS location on page 2 is instantaneous. Henri Henri Arsenault
August 6, 201114 yr Author I can't get the IRS to align. Both the 'Align' lights keep flashing and I have the '30 sec quick align' selected in the options menu. The manual says you have to enter Present Position before it will align ? Glen Glen
August 6, 201114 yr If I understand the question correctly, you cannot align before you have entered the position into the IRS. You get the position from the GPS on page 2, but sometimes the present position on page one is correct. I am not sure with this aircrarft, but with the Capt. Sim 767 you put the dials directly on "nav" and not on "align", but first you need to have the correct position coordinates entered, otherwise there is nothing to align to. Henri Henri Arsenault

Think of your car or smartphone GPS.
