August 10, 201114 yr Still an FS9 user, but PMDG has made me chomp at the bits to upgrade. I don't have a lot to spend, max £500, but looking at this system :- AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition 3.6GHz Quad Core ProcessorKingston ValueRAM 4GB 1333MHz DDR3Gigabyte M68MT-S2 Socket AM3 Motherboard1TB Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 3.5" Hard Disk DriveKFA2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550Ti EX OC Edition 2GB Graphics CardLiteOn iHAS122 22X DVD-RW (Dual LR)/RAM SATA DriveCooler Master Elite 335 ATX Case750W Powercool Power Supply Would that be sufficient? August 10, 201114 yr You're just going to be disappointed with that system. Look for something with an i5 2500K. This will allow you to overclock to the sort of speeds that are really starting to give FSX a kicking. Look into building your own is possible as this can be done very cheaply. In the UK just now you can get a 2500K, p8p67 mobo, and 8gb or ram for £260. Add in a GTX 560ti graphics card for another £170 and you'll have a solid system. Ideally you'll add a good quality PSU, HD and case as well, but these could possibly be salvaged from your current system if you must keep it under 500. i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson

August 10, 201114 yr Author Thought it wouldn't do the trick. Okie doke cheers mate, i'll start looking into different components :)
August 10, 201114 yr Author 30fps would do me just fine!! I'm quite happy with my 25 in FS9 at the moment. All im looking for is a smooth NGX with some scenery such as UK2000, Aerosoft etc Cheers for that.
August 10, 201114 yr I am running that almost identicle system. runs the NGX fantastic, in fact from what I'm reading from the Intel sandy bridge ######. It's running the NGX better than many of their systems and they are very dissapointed. My frames stay right around 30. So dont let the "######" misdirect you, there is no difference! Running that with maxed sliders/traffic/addons are you? This "######" never said it wouldn't run the PMDG, rather that he could get better for his money. And for the record, i'll always buy the fastest hardware, I couldn't care less what logo is on the box. Right now sandy is the fastest and you're mad if you even attempt to argue that. i7 2600k @ 5.1Ghz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 580 @ 950MHz, OCZ Vertex II 240GB, ASUS Xonar DG, Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W PSU, Antec KÜHLER 620 W/C, Corsair 600T SE White My FS9 Screens - http://fs9screens.blogspot.com/ Callum Richardson
August 10, 201114 yr Thanks, will do! Tokermax is the only ###### here. Besides, he's totally clueless, do some googling for actual facts on Intel vs AMD performance and you'll have something serious to go by: Check this out: http://www.anandtech...duct/186?vs=288..and that's without taking into account their overclocking capabilities (that of course favours the newer, 32nm I5 2500K) I had a Phenom II x6 1090T before I made the move to Intel and I can tell you there's a HUGE difference between them, and that's comparing the same installation, same settings... apples to apples, not just what I seem to interpret from some cherry picked posts in a forum. Listen to Callum and go the Intel route (I5 2500K) . It doesn't cost that much more and you get a lot more bang for your buck
August 10, 201114 yr Author Yeah i've only heared good things about the i5 2500k so i'm looking down that alley way at the moment
August 11, 201114 yr I guess I'm also a ######. If you want the best experience with FSX, I can assure you that the new Sandy Bridge 2500K or 2600K will have you more than satisfied. You might even become a ###### too. MSFS
August 11, 201114 yr Author Haha fair enough! I'm looking at Towers then adding monitors etc to it. Seen on ebay this Intel I7 2600 Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz8gb DDR3 Memory500GB HDGA-GA65M-D2H-B3 motherboard Then adding GTXi 560ti to ti. That would be about a £600 outlay, but i'd be ready for that. Thanks
August 11, 201114 yr Sandy Bridge and don't see my sig :) . Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
August 11, 201114 yr Author Right looks like i'm homing in on my system :- INTEL I5 2500 SANDY BRIDGE QUAD CORE 3.30GHZ8 GB 8192MB DDR3 1333 600GB SERIAL ATA HARD DRIVE 4X DVD-RW DRIVE (SATA)1GB GTX560tiWin7 64bit This would keep it under my budget of around £650. Comments?
August 11, 201114 yr I am no intel ###### but I would recommend the i5 over the Phenom's after reading a few posts. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
