How to bring up HGS in 2d Panel Mode

Featured Replies

Somebody answered this for me a couple days ago but only mentioned a W key. I have deleted the keyboard assignments for the 737-ngx so can someone tell me where I can find the 2d panel option for the HGS and assign either a key or button to it? Of is there a clickspot? I know where it is in Virtual Cockpit mode but not in the 2d panel mode.

As far as I know, there is no HGS 2D panel. If you lower the HGS in the overhead, and you press W when in main panel view, you will see the HGS simbology, but it is not calibrated so your horizon and velocity vector will be off. W is an FSX command, not a PMDG assignment. It will give you the full external view with the minipanel instruments.

Thanks for clearing that up ;-)

I prefer to fly with the 2d panel and often use keyboard W to see the runway on approach. I have been doing a work around to use the HUD in 2d. I will go to 3d view and active the HUD, then go back to the 2D view. Now when in 2d panel view and you switch the view using the W key you will have a HUD. Cumbersom way to do it, but the HUD is there. A simple click point on the 2d panel whould be nice. Is there one? Also the HUD seems very hard to read compared to the 3d view. It seems that those of us that prefer the 2d panel views are geting short changed by all the payware aircraft designers and MS. Supposed to be the wave of the future I read somplace.

In the 2D view, you can go on the overhead and click on the HGS raise/lower knob on the bottom left and it will act accordingly.

Hi... no HGS or hotkey in the 2D panel. No 2D throttle quadrant either.

See my post above yours...
Hahaha! You guys are pretty clever. Working around the NGX limitations. I have yet to do a landing with HGS.

I think you may have read my post wrong. If you have the HGS installed in your aircraft, you can go into the 2D Overhead and click on the knob to raise and lower the HGS in the bottom left. You can then close the overhead, and hit the "W" key to get 2D HGS only. To go back to the main 2D panel, press "W" again and hit "F10" Also, this can be use backwards to retract the HGS when not in use.

Paul What Nick is saying is absolutely right. Yoiu engage the HUD in 3 D and then switch to 2 D. When in 2 D hit the 'W' Key and you will see the HUD only

No.... If you guys look in the 2D panel's overhead, you can see the HGS in the bottom left- click on the extend/retract knob and you will see it raise/lower. You can then do the "W" thing as mentioned.... Remember, you DO NOT have to leave 2D to extend/retract the HGS.
