windows xp and microsoft sidewinder pro

Featured Replies

Hello!,I have just bought a new computer and flight sim 2004, I have a microsoft forcefeedback pro joystick, which does not seem to be compatiable with windows xp, does anyone know of any drivers that make it compatiable, or do I have to buy a new joystick?I await anyone's comments who can help.ThanksIain

Hi Iain,Quick question...what do you mean by "not compatible"? Are you getting a strange message in the Game Controllers screen? You can try the following.Point your browser to the Microsoft Sidewinder "official site here ---> www.microsoft.com/hardware/sidewinderOn the left hand side select the downloads link and download the driver software for the Force feedback Pro.You may also want to take a look through their support section.Good luck!!Mike

Hi Mike,Thanks for your message ,I have checked out the support page and it looks like it is not supported in XP. thanks again for your adviseIain

Don't know what to tell ya, BUT I am running XPO pro and have a MS Sidewinder FF2 joystick and it works fine, didn't do anything special. I have been seeing a few posts that people say it's not compatable, but I have never had an issue. Hope you get it worked out, it's a great stick.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmthelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters

Hi Iain and Happy New Year! I was in the same situation about six months ago when I bought my new XP computer!(Dell 8250 which I love by the way)!I researched around (at that time!) and found no drivers or anything that would make my MSFF1 work with XP!(WHAT A NIGHTMARE TRYING TO FLY WITH THE KEYPAD!!!)Went to their website and found the only solution was (TO MY HORROR) buy a new MSFF"2" joystick! For your sake I hope their are drivers or some workaround to your dilema, but for me it was DINERO CITY!!! GOOD LUCK,HOPE THIS HELPS! JUKEBOX "SOMEDAY I WILL FLY IN A REAL B-17"!!!

Did you go to Control Panel>Game Controller (or Game Options) and see if XP "sees" you stick?I was told XP had the FF drivers built in.If all else fails try going to http://www.dirks-software.ca/fs-force/and using the 10 free flight trial.FaxCap

Hi all.I own an ancient Microsoft Sidewinder PrecisionPro, and it's working flawlessly with my sim since I installed WindowsXP.There aren't any XP drivers for old Sidewinder products because this OS supports them natively. If you are confident with your OS, go into Control Panel/Game Controllers (guess that's what it is in english, I have an italian version of XP) and look for your joystick there. You may have to hit the Add button. My Sidewinder was detected automatically, though. You should be ok.Good luckLuca

Hi everyone,Success at last, xp finally recognised my joystick and I can fly 2004 great stuff!! thanks everyone for all your helpIain
