I am curious as to whether PMDG has contacted AOA and asked, have they had any freeze problems with the NGX, considering the fact that they must have logged many hours already with this aircraft.My reason for this question is this: When i first purchased the the NGX, i tweaked it to somewhere close to reasonable performance with help from threads in this forum and a ticket to which Ryan replied with some welcome suggestions and then srarted flying. Firstly i just set up a quik flight from KSFO to KPDX and got as far as descent stage and got a complete FSX freeze when setting up my runway, star, etc in the FMC. So that was the end of that and i whent back to search for more perfomance tweaks etc while PMDG comes up with a fix.During this process i came accross a post by Nick from AOA where he gave out a link to his TracIR profile which he used for his video of the NGX pre release. Since i have TracIR, i downloaded the zip file which also happend to contain a tweaked FSX .cfg file. So i thought, why not. Since then i have not had one single issue with freezes, lockups or crashes and i have flown various routes, including about 6 of the tutorial. Any connection? Or just coinsidence?

I fixed my freezes by updating with their hotfix as well as uninstalling Ultimate Traffic 2 since it was killing mysystem with any airplane and making FSX safe with my virus software. I also disabled Windows Defender. Don't know which (if not all) one of those did it, but the plane is working flawlessly now.

There are some ******* tweaks that are no longer relevant since SP2, but they are still placed in the FSX cfg by his utility. I think it is folly, not to expect that everything that is placed in the cfg is going to work. It is a great thing ******* provides, but I believe one tweak at a time and then test is more prudent than wholesale tweaking.

I hear you but what i am saying is that i completely replaced my .cfg with the AOA one. I can't list all the differences here, but it certainly has a lot of differences to 'my' tweaked cfg Which begs the question. After many flying hours, Has AOA had any crashes?

I hear you but what i am saying is that i completely replaced my .cfg with the AOA one. I can't list all the differences here, but it certainly has a lot of differences to 'my' tweaked cfg Which begs the question. After many flying hours, Has AOA had any crashes?

Yes, i'm curious too, also be nice to find out what they did if they did have CTD's. Might compare mine with Nick's and see if there is much difference, as I also have had no CTD's except at Orbyx ymml and that was a g3d.dll. Glad you brought this up Rick.

I see Nick has water down to zero, autogen is low at 2, no traffic whatsoever, so maybe the cfg was dumbed down for the video. Be interesting if he alters it much for his own personal use.

I just deleted my old fsx.cfg and tried the above suggestion and i have to admit that there was some small improvement, but in the end, the panel and control input froze anyway. perhaps the next hotfix will work..

Hey Julian. In FSX settings i turned of water effects and when flying over the sea in the tutorial, it made a 10FPS difference. At least i think it's about that much because i am externally limited to 30FPS and i got 20FPS at that point,so when you think about it when you are flying airliners at 35000ft, who needs water effects. Only benifit would be approach over water i.e. KSFO. I don't use FSX traffic but keep my UT2 down to 20% (any more is overkill IMHO) Like i said, all the gurus are conspicuous by their silence.

Hi Rick, I see no benefit (comparedt to mine ) in nicks config. I agree with you about the water, I would turn that off and autogen at dense. High water settings is like a 400Ib gorrila in FSX, and as you said, @ FL350, who jolly well cares

Yeahhh,, ya sure can, so it was worth a shot..one thing i "think" i noticed when this last freze happened, is that the panel didnt freeze till i turned off the AP and AT disco warning lights. I need to verify that this morning though..Pam.
