Possible to have trim wheel linked to hardware rotary?

Featured Replies

I have a Saitek X36 combo and have a rotary knob assigned via FSX controls to elevator trim and it is calibrated through FSUIPC. On all aircraft other than the 737NGX this control works fine, on the 737NGX it just seems to move the trim one way regardless off if the knob is rotated clockwise or anti-clockwise. Now I know PMDG have said that FSUIPC may cause problems but I wondered if anyone has this working or can suggest a work around? Thanks Dave

I can't think, for the life of me, why you would want this action? On the real thing it's controlled hydraulically by a button on the flight yoke. The theory is that while you rflying you need both hands on the flight yoke and or one hand on the throttles, leaving no hands left for the trim which operates quickly and efficiently with the thumb controllers contained on the yoke.

i have a simular setup with a saitek x52 and i have noticed the same thing, however i dont have mine setup using FSUIPC , its setup within FSX control settings. this works for nearly all aircraft with the exception of NGX and ConcordeX

I didn't know this. I use my left thumb rotary on my Saitek throttle to trim out all my other birds. Are you saying 2 buttons, 1 to trim up and 1 down, or a rocker switch, say, would be like the real thing? And would you trim click by click, so to speak, or by holding one down as the trim changes? Thanks.

On my saitek, I have trim set to the up/down switch on the left of the yoke, just like most real planes. Pushing the switch to the up is nose down, and pushing the switch down is nose up.

yes...i have same setup of saitex yoke rocker button set for trim up or down...I thought i had a hang on the issue about the trim not moving always in both directions, but I seem to have the issue again, I also noticed that it doesnt move as fast with that button as it does when you actually click on the Trim wheel in the VC. And when I have the issue of not being able to trim both ways with the yoke, I still can with clicking on the trim wheel in the VC. I have tried mapping the button to FSX, FSPUIC, and Also Linda - same issue which ever one i try - and yes I did delete assignments from the others when I switched,
