My research indicates this file was part of the FSX demo. Did you properly uninstall the demo before installing FSX? You might be able to find the file by hitting the start button and typing the name of the file in the search bar. If you did not disable hidden folders, you'll need to do that first to find a hidden file. To do so, goto the Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Scroll down and put a bullet in "Show hidden files and folders" -> Click "Apply". Now, if it's on your system you can conduct a search and it should show up. If is most likely located in "C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX". I would also make sure the demo has been uninstalled by going into the Add/Remove program and look for FSX Demo. If it's still there, click on uninstall. That should get rid of the file too. If FSX does not start up successfully after you have done all of that, you may have to do a repair of FSX afterwards by putting the DVD in the disk tray and selecting the 'Repair' option. Once FSX is repaired, you'll also have to install SP1 and SP2 or, if you have Acceleration, you'll need to install that too or do a 'Repair'. Hope this helps. Best regards,Jim

August 17, 201114 yr Author Thanks Jim. I have a computer guy who has my computer and working the problem but he is not FSX savvy so I don't have much faith that he will sort it. I will pass your suggestions on to him. If the issue isn't solved using your ideas I guess I have to wipe the drive and re-build everything. So discouraging that so many people have the same problem but nobody has a clear solution. Different people have suggested different "fixes" and once in awhile something works for somebody. I have tried them all but no success. Since I uninstalled and reinstalled FSX, do I have to reinstall SP1 and. 2?
August 18, 201114 yr Since I uninstalled and reinstalled FSX, do I have to reinstall SP1 and. 2?Yes. When you open SP1 and SP2, if it sees the program has been installed previously, it will offer you the opportunity to repair the installation too or you can simply reinstall. Now, if you have Acceleration, Acceleration incorporates the SP1 and SP2 installations into that program so you can skip separately reinstalling SP1 and 2. Best regards,Jim
