January 7, 200422 yr Hi Dick/all>It requires textures placed into the 'worldtexture' folder,>and replacing the terrain.cfg with his example ( back that up>first ). The textures will do no harm if simply left there.>The old terrain.cfg can be restored if a problem arises. At Joachim page i can read:.................in den Pfad X:FS2004Texture kopierenThis means to copy textures in FS9 main texture folder, isn't it?We know this has to be a typo ;-)After that we copy all 54 terrain textures in 'worldtexture' folder and.... do we have to rename somehow those .BMP's?Finally, which of two terrain.cfg included in the zip do we have to use? There are three folders in the temp directory: Texture, terrain_cfg ohne (w/o)......, terrain_cfg mit (with)??????Can you please help? Thanks in advanceLuigi ;-)
January 7, 200422 yr I've run into a big area of CTDs enroute from Nice (LFMN) to Palma Mallorca (LEPA). I used this time of year, January, with default only scenery and real weather. It occurs approximately 160-170 miles from Palma. Pretty consistent shut down. Tried to head north to Marseille (LFML)and still got CTDs. I tried everything. Finally putting the computer to summer without real weather did the trick.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 7, 200422 yr I have tried all the recommended CTD fixes. They still appear, although not as often. They can occur with default scenery with no addons as well. I did encounter one CTD at default Barcelona airport that kept re-appearing until I removed the AFCAD for the default LEBL. Then there was no CTD. I was using summer and no downloaded weather. I have a pretty high end rig with all the bells and whistles. The CTDs on the way to Palma Mallorca are out over the open sea, so it can't be AFCAD or any addons. It has to be purely an internal MS programming glitch. Probably the seasonal one.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
January 7, 200422 yr Hi Luigi.I copied the texture files to:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9SceneryWorldtexture( These are all the files named like: '0jobia001b2lm1.bmp' 54 as you wrote ).Either of the two terrain.cfg files can be used, but one will alter the UTility lines, so they look more like European utility easments. I don't remember which is which, offhand, but either will do the trick. First, rename your terrain.cfg as terrain.old... so you can go back to it if you want. The textures can stay right where they are because nothing else references them, but the new terrain.cfg file. This gets rid of the seasonal CTDs. But there are other crashes caused by other problems... usually related to addon scenery. I'm still waiting to hear if certain landclass addon problems are solved by this terrain.cfg alteration. if they are, this would be quite a valuable fix.In the case of the mantioned Italylandpack, I have no doubt that it does add much beaty to the scenery, but I suspect the landclass BGL is not constructed in a way that FS9 will tolerate. If I had the RAW source and INF file I could perhaps fix it. The only way to salvage it is to turn the Terrain Texture size to medium in your display menu, and that will blur the ground as the uppermost mip is discarded. I don't think that is a good idea...buy landclass and then blur the display so the sim doesn't crash.Dick
January 8, 200422 yr Hi Dick, thanks for answering.Recently had some CTD while flying VFR over Finland but before reading about this nightmare in this forum i thought it was my fault, maybe some new scenery added textures.BUT yesterday i had my first great CDT because of Italylandpack: my starter situation places my 737 at LIME (Orio al Serio), my home airport. I couldn't either star my sim that continuously had CTD.So i started tweaking and only after Italylandpack disabeld i could again play with FS9. My terrain texture size is sill set to large but i had also to re-enable in section RenderToTexture=1.At the moment i'm quie happy with my Porter over Swiss sceneries(Gauthier+Hegi sceneries) and i have also added tenth of AI flights using simple yet wonderful Mike Holland's GA TRAFFIC MAKER.Take careLuigi ;-)
