Fs9 crash on exit

Featured Replies

I've always had the annoying problem of Fs9 coming up with the "Fs9 has encountered a problem and needs to close" message when I quit. It's annoying because some settings are not retained such as keyboard assignments or frame rate settings. If I click the error report the multiplayer.dll file is implicated after ModName. I've searched the forum and there are some old threads about this but no solution. I've tried extracting the multiplayer.dll file from the CDs but this makes no difference. I don't really want to reinstall as it is something I can live with, but if anyone has an easy solution I'd be grateful. I have lots of addons, PMDG, Dreamfleet, ActiveSky, etc, etc. John

What version of FSUIPC are you using? I have seen this with some of the earlier version; solved by the more recent ones. Might be system specific for all I know, but you might try downloading the most current version if you haven't done that recently.Best Regards,Ed Green

I've got the most recent version.John

removing dw15.exe, from the main flight sim folder solved a simular problem for me. The difference for me was, I did not notice any changes to my settings. Just the very annoying message everytime I shut down the sim.Hope this helps.Robin.Ps. When I checked the content of the report it wants to send it indicated a problem associated with a weather .dll

Robin

Hi RobinI just tried that and it worked. I didn't try any flying, just opened and shut the programme so I don't know if there any adverse effects yet. What exactly does dw15.exe do?Thanks very much for the tipJohn

In the Product Name entry for this module it says "Microsoft Application Error Reporting".

I have the same problem but the procedure you described (dw15.exe deletion) did not work for me. Can you help ?

I get the same annoying crash every so often... in particular it happened once I installed fsuipc and pfc dll files. I posted on Petes forum as well and he stated that its a known issue of crashes on exit in previous version of fsim upto 2004 (This is the only version where I've ever personally had a crash, or had the whole computer reboot itself on a crash)Anyways, I really don't know what to say except your not the only one, just be lucky it doesn't happen at minimums after a 5 hour leg!!Chris

It does happen quite frequently and unfortunately, it's intermittent. When you raise the issue with Pete, he moves away from the snag and when pressed gives you a "Well, you're exiting the program anyway, so what's the problem?" sort of a thing.Usually, removing all of his modules and placing them back into the modules folder one at a time (restarting and shutting down the sim) fixes the problem. The problem can be brought back by adding a new airplane (FSUIPC dependency irrelavent) or scenery (same thing).Pete thinks it's the way FS loads the modules. That's fine, but we didn't seem to have this problem when Pete was freeware. Maybe he has too many coals in the fire. Don't know.Strange that almost ALL of the errors are related to weather.dllI pointed out a long time ago on another board within Avsim that FS does not recognize winds above 100,000 feet. Extending winds aloft used to go above that number. That was one oops that couldn't be known without an SDK. He fixed that. Perhaps there is another snag in the FS2K4 WX engine that is tripping up the deal.Only time and patience will tell.Keep the Faith!BC

I have this problem on stock FS2004 ! (No modifications nor add-ons)And that's everytime I exit the game...It is therefore impossible to save my settings. Very frustrating !

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anyone found a solution???????!!!!

Have U found a soultion yet?! Have the same problem

I did not have this problem until the other day when I installed FlightProject ATOC but even if I uninstall it I still have the problem. The report always comes up saying that it is Multiplayer.dll. I am going to dig into this a little more tonight and see if I can find out what it going wrong here. I wonder in my case if it has anything to do with Zone Alarm blocking a port when I am not flying online. If I find anything I will post it here.Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

I dont have any firewalls...i doubt its any external problem...I tried to start with and without most services.msc, tried to reinstall the module, then reinstall direct x...nosthing...i dont even want to hear bout reinstalling fs9 and all add-ons (imagine all those on-line activations...shame)...even changed fs9 file (though i have an original game no-cd is useful)...maybe some sort of loose copyprotection?! otherwise my game is very stable but EVERY single exit same error...and all settings are gone...anbody know how to set keyboard commands and other options outside the game, like realism or mesh complexity?!? (except fs9 configurator)
